| The best advise....stay consistant and have PATIENCE! Snickers is going to be 9 months in a week and has been housetrained for about 2.5-3 months. It is not impossible and will work if you just stay consistant and focused! 1. First, try to predict how often your pup has to go. 8 months, I would say about every 2-3 hours. Be sure to take them out each and everytime. And say "GO POTTY" 2. Make the potty treat a SUPER good one, and say good boy or good girl after. Some treats that Snickers has gone nuts for are Wellness Pur Rewards Jerky, butterscotch chips, and bits of STRING CHEESE! Only gives this treat after successful potty. 3. Always go out the same door, never change it. 4. Reward immediately after successful potty. Not after they come up the steps or to you. That means they get the treat for going up the steps or coming to you, not for the good potty. 5. Stay focused and be patient! 6. If your pup pottys inside, say no, pick them up, and put them in the proper potty spot even if they already went. After taking them to the spot, say GO potty again, this helps ALOT! Even if they don't potty again, they hear potty while being in the correct spot. 7. Pretty soon you will see your pup go toward that same potty door, take them out everytime even if they are just trying to get a treat. ONLY give the treat for the correct potty. Hope this helps!! Snick just had an accident this morning (1st one in about 2-3 months), he went to his sitter's over the weekend and seems to get confused when he comes home sometimes, although he did go right next to the door-I think he was trying to run out to his potty door, but the bedroom door was shut, and he had to go, I picked him up in the middle and he finished his poop outside and he got his treat. There will always be minor set-backs, especially if they REALLY gotta go!! Good Luck!! Stay focused, and consistant, and always have patience!!
