| Too close of a call!! So... yesterday morning my BF and I were making dinner. We were letting Suri run around the house (all the doors were closed and she was following us around in the kitchen.) My roommate was just coming in using the front door, she closed it and I immediatly looked up and said where is Suri!?! I called her once and she didn't answer so I loudly said () "Open the door!". Suri was on th porch looking at me. My roommate freaked out a little and told me how sorry she was. (I wasn't upset with her at all, I told her to calm down everything is okay.) I think she was upset because she knows how much Suri means to me and she told me she knew better. But all is well. All I have been thinking about is what if I would not have realized she was out there, what if she would have not sat on the porch waiting for it to be opened... just another reminder to keep an eye on our pets. It only takes a few seconds and they can be gone. We may know but others may not. Keep your babies safe.

| That was a close call. Thank Goodness that she just sat on the porch. These little ones can really make tracks, when they get the chance. Both of mine got out of the door on me once, and each ran in a different direction. Of course if you chase them, it then becomes a game and they seem to run even faster. I finally caught them. but it was a miracle nothing happened. |

| Close calls are scary. Especially when you have purebred dogs that everyone wants at the moment. Like yorkshire terriers, chihuahuas or American pit bull terriers. I had a close call with my APBT a while back. I let her outside so she could play and use the bathroom. Usually, I'm right there to watch her while she's outside. Well, this day, I stepped inside for a minute thinking "I'll only be gone a minute..." and, when I stepped back outside... these two really shady guys were reaching over my fence and had a hold of her collar. So, I said "Hey, let her go or I'm calling the cops!" And they took off faster than a greyhound chasing a rabbit. That about scared the heck out of me. Since then, I don't leave any of my dogs outside unsupervised. |

| Thank you, the last one she looks scared but only because she was playing with her stuffed bunny and trying to get it back. I need to take some new ones of her. I just took off the last bits of puppy hair off the tip of her pony tail.

| Great advice!!!! That exact same thing has happened to Silvia and it was VERY scary! My DH and I were outside talking to the neighbor, and I came inside first and then he and my neighbor came in maybe 30 seconds behind me. We have two huge saltwater aquariums, and it was time to feed, so our neighbor wanted to watch. After we thaw food and feed the fish, it probably takes us about fifteen minutes to do so. When we were through feeding, my neighbor opened the door to go home and Silvia came running in from outside! We hadn't even noticed she wasn't inside, and we never saw her go outside. She must have heard voices outside and gone out before the door shut behind me when I came in. We would have normally noticed her not at our feet, except that we were talking to the neighbor and showing her the fish. We both freaked out, but thank God she was OK. So many things could have happened, because she is so small! Apparently she just sniffed around the carport and the flowerbed. We don't live on a busy street, but our front door is only about fifty feet from the road. We were so blessed that she was apparently scared to adventure far! Now we MAKE SURE that she is inside everytime we come in or go out.

It is very scary,My cousin had a chow chow and someone tried to steal her from her backyard while they weren't watching...her story didn't have a happy ending because they stole her and she got loose and got hit by a car. I think this was a reality check for all of us especially my roommate. She always pokes fun at me because when someone comes in I usually pick her up just to make sure, but this time I didn't hear my roommate come in until she closed the door.

It really is sad when stories like that have bad endings. I'm glad mine had a happy ending. And the lesson was learned because, now I'm extremely cautious about what I do with my dogs. It's sad that your roommates story didn't end as good. | |

| I had this happen to Couver. We went over to my parent's house, and they have a 8 foot tall fence, so I let him outside to play freely. I watched him for a bit, but then decided he was ok... and next thing I knew he was not in the backyard anymore! I went outside to look, and he was inside the garage. He had escaped through a small hole, and walked around searching for us! I'm glad he knew to come around rather than run down the road or something!! I know now not to leave him alone, even when I think he's safe.

| so glad she didnt go far.! yes I had one of those moments too where Mimi ran out when my mom was coming in and a neighbor brought her back to our house. I was so shocked and felt like i was such a bad mother. What if Mimi was never returned, I would have never forgave myself. I literally was so shooked I was there just holding and tearing. luckily she was just roaming around my next doors neighbors yard. I know how you felt.. Im so glad she was right there. =D
