My vet is the same way, All exams and regular vaxes are done in front of me but she always takes them in the back room and does their blood work. Ive had the same vet for several years and I trust her 100 percent. Most of them time my vet tech (who ive been friends with for years) takes my animals to work with her and she calls me after the vet has looked at them.

The only thing that I can say about this is that it is in the past and you need to move forward. IMO you are rightfully angry with your former vet and what happened. There really is nothing to prove since this is now in the past so looking for a band aide or paper towel or other evidence at this point is useless.

Although you say your dog does not have a rap sheet with the public he now has a reputation at the vets as a biter. My Pebbles tried to bite the tech the last time she had blood drawn and I was standing right there when it happened. They immediately put a muzzle on her and drew the blood~end of story. It was safer for everyone all around and I cannot imagine why this was not done and the outcome was someone got bit. I spoke to the vet about what happened and he said that the tech did not have a sufficient hold and she had a track record of letting go. Geez what would they do with a really HUGE dog 15 lb dog if they cannot restrain a Yorkie?

I do think that I would let the vet know how upset you are over this entire ordeal and because of this you will not be returning to his practice for further care. This was inexcusable and totally preventable.

No matter what the reason, your poor puppy now has a dog bite on record with the state. I think they were just trying to minimize it.

I am so worried your poor puppy will be traumatized whenever he has to go to the vet from now on. I still can't believe they would fight with an eight pound puppy for 45 minutes without just slipping a muzzle on him and getting the bloodwork over with.

I, too, would find a new vet. One that you feel comfortable enough with to trust alone with your baby. We have been going to our vet here for MANY years and our vet tech has had his share of nips and bites (most of which did not come from our babies but some did). He said that is all part of his job and he expects it to happen therefore it does not bother him. I would trust our vet completely to take any of our pets to the back at any time. Of course, they usually ask first. If I were to tell them "No", they are fine with it. When we had our newest guy at the vet about a week ago, he had to get a shot for nausea. My husband remember how our little girl cried so hard when they gave her the tranquilizing shot the day that we had to let her go. He asked the vet if Teddy would cry because he could not handle that. They said probably not but offered to take him in the back for the shot just in case.

I cannot imagine what would take 45 minutes for blood draws though. That just amazes me. I don't think that we are even in the office that long total even when they get their shots and tests. Something sounds very wrong with that 45 minutes to me!

WOW. I would be so mad! If thats the law then they need to change the law to include special circumstances like when a vet is trying to stick a needle in a 5 mo old scared puppies leg and he bites at them cause it hurts or its scared. I would definitely change vets and ask the new vet about their policy on this.
