Well, You all make really good points. I did ask a few questions, such as if there was a health problem and why it was free. So I will wait to hear back, if they do get back to me. I will update the thread just as soon as I hear. I am almost certain it has to be a scam. I really want to get a seriously sound animal if I do get one. I would go to the ends of the earth to keep a dog healthy (or goat, or chicken etc....) but it also pays to know what your chances are of having a well bred and healthy pup. And I have to admit, even with as much soul and greatness the city of Detroit posses's , there are a whole lot of crazy, terrible people around that area too.

Sorry, I am several countries south of DRC. But we have quite a number of Congolese refugees here. They speak the loveliest French and seem to be very nice people.

South Africa is actually the US of the African continent...we have quite a problem with illegal aliens here, people leaving other parts of Africa to come here, a land of peace and relative prosperity. Problem is, we have a 30+% unemployment rate among native South Africans, many of whom stand on street corners looking for ditch-digging or house-cleaning work, so we don't even have menial jobs for the illegals.

So, the situation in the Congo actually affects more than just the Congolese, as the refugees are being absorbed by other countries and impacting their fragile economies as well.

It is a scam!! I have been looking on Kijiji for the past 6 months for a Yorkie I could afford. These ads are usually someone on a Missions trip from Camaroon. They'll send you pics and constant e-mails hoping you will fall for the scam. All you have to do is send the shipping fee. Yeah, right. I am in western NY. They have this scam going all over the US. Hope you find your baby. I am still looking for mine.

and the person who answered my inquiry said SHE was in my area, but the puppy was in Africa and that she was just doing a favor for the "reverent" who was too busy the missionary appointment and couldn't do it himself. Then she directed me to an email address, which was answered with the original sob story, only with more detail and the request of $300 for travel expenses and an urgency plea because the puppy was 'alone and scared'. Since the puppy, according to them, had been soooo spoiled and wasn't accustom to this neglect, he was especially suffering.
Another person posted on Kijili that she had gotten the same sob story and after she sent the money they asked for more to get him the vaccines and carry cage in order to be allowed to travel. Being that she had already pony-up $300, she sent them what they asked and only after she got suspicious, they stopped communication. She never heard from them again, lost her money and no puppy! They were planning to clean her out, I think. Sad, sad, sad

** UPDATE **

The next time I went to find the ad it was Gone!! It was a total scam. Next time I will report it myself. I would NEVER send money, I would only take the drive 1 hour down to see it, but I will be wiser the next time, I don't think I'll ever even look again at that site for any dog. I will find a GOOD breeder and then wait for a quality pup. Thanks to everyone for the opinions, it helped me to realize what I already knew.

I responded to an ad I saw online on a free website for advertising. Turned out she wanted me to fly the dog from Britain to where I am at at my cost. Supposily, her and her husband work a lot and recently transfered there and no longer can take care of the Yorkie.

Scarey thing is...these types of ads aren't only happening with pets. I was selling my van in our local "buy n sell" and had someone offer to buy it from out of country and send their shipper to pick it up. When the money order arrived it was for wayyyy too much money. They then ask you to just cash the money order and send the extra back to them. The catch is, it's a fradulent international money order, so it takes a long time to clear at your bank (I think it was 1-2 months). By the time you find out from the bank that the money order is fake, you're already out the cash that you sent to the scammer, and whatever you've spent possibly buying a new vehicle.

Well, I heard back from this lady, who I might add cannot speak very well, I will attach the letter she wrote. She never answered any of the questions I had and doesn't even seem to know the difference between AKC and "kc" registered?!?!

This is deffinitley not what should be going on....

all papers needed including a 1 year health guarantee where are you
located?Note we are giving them out because we have just re locate and
where we are do not have much space like playing ground for the
puppies ok , are you married? , any kids?coz they are good companion
of kids and other home pets, and most of all they are fast in making
new friends, pls get back to me asap for more information and pictures.

I know a dog has to spend 6 mo in quarantine to go to and from Australia so how was she able to get the dog to Britain so fast and expect you to just fly it back?

Not everyone speaks good english but this does sound fishy. Why couldn't she just send you the photos of the pups no matter the sex? I'd like to see all of them so I knew what the entire litter looked like.

I know, right? It isn't just her english that makes me feel like she's lying.... She mentions twice that they are "KC" registered?!?! It is a little too obvious to even go look at the puppies.

This is one of many letters that these folks send. They are extremely polite. They will send you pics if you ask. I have received many of these when I posted on Kijiji. I always let them know I am onto them and they stop sending e-mails. All they are after is your money. Just a ongoing Scam. It is sad.
