I agree with the 3 previous posts! She sounds like she's mass producing puppiies! We don't want you to spend your money and then get a puppy with alot of problems, That's all!! No one is judging you. Please be careful and Good-Luck finding your new puppy...

I purchased my chorkie (1/2 yorkie 1/2 chihuahua) from a breeder. I love him so much but wish I had done research on the breeder first. Don't believe what they tell you. Especially if they have tons of dogs. They are looking to make a profit and will tell you all the "key words" that your suppose to look out for when buying from a breeder. "raised in home", "part of the family" etc. Look for yourself at their surroundings (cages are cleaned) the parents, ask for the vet he/she uses and call him. Ask if there is a health guarantee that comes with the puppy. Find out if the parents have any health issues. I know chihuahua are known to have knee problems. Anyway with all that said I love my little mixed breed chorkie.

I am glad your not one of those people... Because , I got caught up in a thread that was making people very upset recently.
Personally, those mixes are pretty cute, however breeding so many at once makes my stomach churn. To me, that is a huge red flag. the problem is nobody knows if the pups are healthy or not, down the road they could get very ill fast. I think it is too much of a rist to take with this particular "set up".
I would not support anyone who breeds in "mass production" Of mixed puppies or any breed. You might be in for some serious heartache down the road. Use caution and be aware .

Well, She has three litters of puppies available.

2 "Morkies" - Both female
2 Yorkie/bichon. - 1 male 1 female
And 5 lab/boxer.

She said that the labs and boxer puppies were accidental. Her duaghter let both the male and female out at the same time to run around the yard. But the breeder had already told her to keep them in there pens, unless she took out one at a time because female boxer was in heat.

From the conversation i have had with her, she really really loves her dogs. And she doesnt want the pups to go to just anybody.

I personally think that as long as the dogs are healthy and happy. And being tken care of properly, its okay to breed if you are up to the challenges. She is retired and is at home all the time.

I had spoken to my vet before I purchased my chorkie. I was aware of the illnesses that are prevalent in both breeds and was concerned about constant vet bils. She told me that by mixing the two breeds it is technicaly a mutt and the health issues would decrease. She said I would end up with a great dog because of the two personalities of each breed.

you need to be sure she is giving all the pups the very best start in life, with lots of love and affection, and i think we are all concerned that may not be the case here. It is never ok just to breed for the money, even if she is 'up to the challenges'..that would be very irresponsible. Please be careful, and dont support anyone who is just in it for the money.

I think with all the puppy mills people here are just afraid for you that she may be running a pupply mill. I think you need to go there, and really get a good look around. You can even ask why she chooses to breed so many different types of breeds. Then you'll be more informed, and can follow what your instincts tell you. Best wishes.

it seems like you kind of have your heart set on this breeder.
i think a lot of red flags are present.
i think that's quit a few litters all at once if the breeder was truly trying to provide the best care for the puppies.

i guess i hope you will consider doing more research and asking lots of questions to find out the important things to look for.

one of the breeders that i spoke to when i was looking for my puppy told me (because she didn't have a puppy available to sell, and usually you have to be on a wait list to get a puppy from her as she does not frequently have litters) this piece of advice:

"go look at the house where the puppy lives, visit the puppy's mom and dad. talk to the breeder and ask LOTS of questions, and finally let your gut instinct tell you if you think this is a good idea. if you sense that something is wrong, probably is, walk away and never go back."

and i think your job now is to do research to find out what to look for in a good breeder and write down a list of questions that you should be asking about.

good luck to you!

Thank you. I am leaning towards a morkie, but after reading a few threads, alot of people think that anybody who breeds mixed breeds are not reputable breeders and are irresponsible. Is that true?

If i go there and dont like what i see. I will definatly look elsewhere for my puppy.

i have not heard anything about people who breed mix breeds being 'bad breeders'

but i think it's a hot button for some people. i think there are some people out there who thinks it's a bad idea to mix breeds. but i think mostly for ppl who are against it, they are against the idea of a 'designer dog' and the way the advertise to people.

That makes sense. If i couldnt get a morkie, i would like a maltese. Are they big shedders? Are they considered hypoallergenic? Of course i dont mind dog fur all over the place. But id just like to know..

i LOVE maltese as well. i do not think maltese shed. they have 'hair' not fur, just yorkies. so they are both hypoallergenic.

you have good taste!

in my opinion, and this is just a over generalization of course. yorkies are a little more independent than maltese. maltese are the biggest cuddle bugs.

my neighbor has a morkie, and he is really really cute. he actually has cream color hair, but his face looks like a yorkie.

i personally didn't get a maltese for a very silly reason. i didn't want to have to deal with the tear stains... but they are definitely both my favorite dogs! maltese and yorkie!
