* They dont have a prey drive, they have a retrieving drive with soft mouths. I have been an animal behaviourist for 11 years and have been training dogs for over 20. Yorkies are very delicate and can be harmed easily of course, but in Sophies case, imo very well trained dogs would have been on a down-stay and not moved. She should have not been any threat and couldve been allowed to jump all over them and growl etc. Goldens arent independent thinkers like Yorkies. They DESIRE to have a person to tell them what to do, and live to obey, Goldens who would fight or be unruly most likely dont have adequate training, because they prefer direction and alpha owners. Whereas Yorkies are independent thinkers, and while they love us, they have their own ideas and will pursue whichever benefits them best. It is also important to note that Yorkies can be nervous dogs which can make other dogs attack them. Dogs communicate in many ways, by body posture/language, show of teeth, telepathically etc. Noise being the least used. It is probable alot of communication happened in very little time without your being aware, and with her size she didnt have a chance. All of us with small dogs worry about this. PS Perfectly kind people have unruly dogs and dogs that need more training. I wasnt insulting the owners, but it is unfortunate that this happened. Training saving lives. I hope you find peace with your sorrow, and have good friends and family to help you through this.

I am also sorry that people feel a need to defend the offending breed or educate everybody on dog behavior, right or wrong, at this very sad time for you. I hope others will simply join in giving you all our sympathy, thoughts and prayers at the loss of you furfbaby, as we do with all the others here on YT who lose a pet. You are hurting, sad and angry, and trying to make sense of it all, and all I want to do is send you hugs of comfort. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

| I'm so sorry for the loss of your Sophie. Years ago I had a mini poodle. My next door neighbor raised Alaskan Malamutes. One day she was walking with one of her males off leash and she came into my yard to talk to me. My male poodle was playing in the yard. I started walking towards my dog to scoop him up but she said don't worry he won't hurt him. Those words no sooner left her mouth when her malamute ran over to my poodle and scooped him up. She let out one sharp command DROP IT! He dropped him but he did hurt him. One bite was enough for a collapse lung, shock and many stitches. Luckily my dog survived but after that I never trust large dogs with my small ones.

| OMG..what an awful thing for your poor Sophie to have had to endure. And even more horrific that you were so helpless to defend her. I pray that God will ease the pain and anger that you feel so that you will be able to be left with your wonderful memories of her in your heart and mind...God Bless..RIP Sweet Sophie
