| Any suggestions???? My Lola is 1.5 years old. She has NEVER liked or used a pee pad. This morning it's -32* without wind chill. She also won't wear boots. I've taken her out twice to go but her feet start freezing to the ice/snow and she starts limping. I've put down a pee pad hoping she'll use it as we're not supposed to get above zero all day. Any suggestions? Do you think she'll eventually have to use the pad? |

I believe that she will use the pad.We brought Beatrice home when she was almost 9 months old,and she wasn't pad or paper trained. We started telling her to go pee pee everytime we would take her out, especially when we knew that she had to go.I think eventually she figured it out that when we asked her to go pee she would, because of the praise and the treat she would get.Eventually we would put her on the pad and ask her to go pee,and when she'd do it she'd get the same praise. I think if you just put her on the pad when you know that it's time for her to go and don't let her off the pad until she pees, but keep asking her to go pee pee. When she does, praise her.If you are consistant and don't give up,she will learn to do it. It's extremely cold here too now and it sure is nice that we don't have to go out to go potty.Beatrice is way to small, she would freeze. Good luck..............and don't give up !! | |

| Good Morning Well I put on both a sweater and a coat. I MADE her put her boots on. She didn't like it but was able to pee before getting 2 of them off. She only poos once a day. Usually first thing in the morning. Poor baby! Her pacing is making me crazy! I'll just keep putting her on the pad and hope she goes. Her new found love is banana. She LOVES it. Maybe I'll use that to entice her. |

| Yeah well, I was going for comfort here. She will pace, whine, and hold it to the point of being miserable. |

| -32*!!!! Silly me! I thought our 22* this a.m. was 'cold'. There is a spray that you can buy to put on the pee pads to help entice them to use them. I've never tried it so I can't say if it works or not, but it may be worth a try. Also maybe take a pad out and try to 'catch' a little of her pee to help the scent be there. Good Luck.

| I have the same problem with my lil boy. We are in MI and it's 30 below today and this started about a week ago. Snick would go outside and shiver and not move, the snow/wind burns thier paws I think. Anyway, IF you have a garage, it will save you. I put down newspaper and pee pads on one corner and Snick will pee and poop in the garage. He always hits the paper or pad when pee'ing but poops along the wall . After a few days he even started walking to the garage door instead of his normal potty door. We started this in the fall when it would rain hard and it helped so much b/c he refuses to go in the rain. I just HOPE you have a garage??? And I can't wait till next week when it will be 30 ABOVE zero!! -Vivian |

| Add Dixie to the list! My poor puppy is so upset. She will use the pee pads, but she knows she's supposed to go out (normally) to pee so she gets upset when she goes on the pee pads in the house. I'm still taking her out (it's -12 here today) and she goes really quick then runs to the door. I'm ready for summer! |

| I have the exact same problem!!!!! It's been -45 here for the last 3 days! Schools been cancelled all week! I don't know what to do! Bella's trained to go potty outside and i'm afraid if i try to do the pee pad she'll think she can go inside. So needless to say i continue to take her potty outside but she picks up all her paws and limps! She wont wear booties and i'm so afraid her poor paws are frostbitten! Our German Shepherd can't even handle this weather. Any more than a few minutes outside and she's pickin all her paws up too. She can't even make it up the steps because her paws and legs are frozen. I'm in the same boat! |

| I have the biggest litter tray i can find, put it in my garage and fill it with gravel. When molly has used it, i just dig out the wet bit, like a cats litter tray....works like a dream, because she is almost outside. I use it when its raining too, as Molly doesnt 'do' rain!! |

| Lola is the least of my worries right now. Things just went from bad to worse. My hot water pipe burst under my kitchen. Called several plumbers and they're all out on calls. Called my insurance and an adjuster is supposed to call me...not sure when. Beautiful |

| I can't imagine what you guys are going through. It's 40 degrees here, and mine act like it's 30 degrees below zero.

Thor's Human Donating Member | I have trouble coaxing Thor out when it's chilly in San Francisco! Of course, he has no problem peeing on my carpet, so I suppose he sees no point in going outside unless he's going to be completely comfortable. |
