| Those are wonderful suggestions. I will definitly be sure to talk more with the breeder a d ask those questions. I think the blankets are a great idea . Maybe I will even send the girls blankets with our scents on them so they can get used to our smells in their own environent and then have the breeder put their familiar scents on it too for the way home maybe? Thank you for sharing your story. She did mention that one was more shy than the other and from what I hear from all these stories that may always be the case. That's ok though, and I think you are right socializing is going to be really important. I just hope they aren't agressive to strangers, that will make the process longer and more dificult, but we will take it one step at a time. One more question , I think it's probably best to get them bonded to us and trusting us before I move on to socializing right? How will I know when that point is? That they are ready ? I appreciate everyones help! Thanks so much for your stories ideas and input!

| Congratulations - I know the wait seems endless! I got my Olivia this past October and she celebrated her 8th birthday on 12/1! She was a breeder for most of her life. The ad read "Needs lots of love" so when I called the lady I asked exactly what that meant...since it could mean dozens of things! Turns out she was very timid and frightened; another person had bought her but returned her a day later because she hid under the furniture and wouldn't come out. I wasn't sure if I should take her or not from our phone conversation, but the instant I saw her I knew it was meant to be. She has actually adjusted very quickly - and not once has she hid under the furniture! The vet says she will need work on her teeth but other than that she is healthy. She is still not 100% housetrained but is doing so much better...she does not like grass and prefers to potty on the concrete patio or sidewalk. I figure we'll work on the grass thing in the spring! I'm sure she didn't know what grass was when she was kept as a breeder. She still does kind of crawl away and then half-roll over when I go to pick her up; I am hoping that will get better with time as she continues to learn she can trust us. But otherwise she has been a dream girl and I am so glad I gave her (and me!) a chance! Patience and calmness seemed to be 2 key factors in helping her to transition. And finding a good routine that worked for both of us was important too. I would think getting siblings at the same time would be great! Good luck with your little girls and keep us posted!

| We adopted 3, or better,4, adult Yorkies. First Maggie which was very timid and shy and it took almost a month until she dicovered she has a tail nub to wag with. She still (after about one year) is not the really cuddly type but she is like a velcro baby to me. Then we got the little family, once called Capone (dad), Gypsy (mom) and Eve (daughter) and they didn't know how to play either. We asked the lady who gave them up to give us some toys they love and she told us that they don't really play and the three came with one yellow squeaky frog... Unfortunately we had to find another home for Gypsy for various reasons and she is now the spoiled rotten center of an elderly gentleman. Capone and Eve, now Maximus and Minnie, settled in slowly and they also learned to wag their tails and play. I call Maximus my 'silly boy' now b/c he is such a goofball and does the funniest things. You'll see... the two girls are going to come around very very fast and since Yorkies are born to be cuddled and loved they will love you back in no time!
