How horrible for this to happen! I've had about 8 Shelties in my life and they are wonderful dogs, but this sort of scenario scares me from getting a second pooch. I hope that Sophie recovers completely... I know exactly what you mean about their beautiful big brown eyes! Prayers go out to you all. Keep us posted.

Aw girl, I'm glad you posted, I've been sending good thoughts your way.

It's understandable how you're feeling, but also try to think of what your puppers is going through. Take a deep breath, calm down, and just give her loves and let her know how thankful you are that she's ok. If you're holding her while you're tense and stuff, she knows this. So just take a minute to compose yourself and go grab her in your lap

It sounds like you feel guilty for what happened, but honey, it wasn't your fault! These things happen, just be glad that she's ok...

Awww, I am so sorry you both have to go through this. I PROMISE that one day (sooner than you think) you will be able to look at her sweet little face and not even notice that it is different than it used to be.

And you are not a horrible person at all for not being able to look at it. I couldn't even bear to look at Ralphie's stitches from his 2 hernias that he had removed...so of course you are not a horrible person. These things take time, you will both make it through this I know it

Of course it's hard to look at her! You want to fix her and make it all better, and you can't. Time will heal both your wounds, and you will get use to the change (as will she). Hang in there, sending lots of (((hugs))) your way!

I just went back and read about Sophie. Please don't blame yourself!! This was a terrible accident!! I'm so,so sorry for what you are going through.....I just wish I could find the right words to comfort you.
