| chocolate puppy hi everyone im new on here and ive been hoping that someone may be able to help me, i have been reading with interest your discussions about the chocolate yorkie, my dog katie had 3 pups on the 29th nov two bitches black and tan and one male which is chocolate, what my question is , is the chocolate yorkie still classed as a pedigree because both of his parents are, and the brown gene is in his fathers side of the family, i would be grateful for any feedback guys # thanku |

| Hello, My Lexi just had her pups today and to my suprise 3 of them are chocolate! I saw the above post where they can be registered if both the parents are; however, I was just wondering if anyone had more information on that? On the AKC registration, it only gives you the option of selecting black/tan or blue/tan? I am wondering if this chocolate genetic is something more common in boys since the orgional poster had 2 black/tan girls with the chocolate boy and I have 2 black/tan girls with 3 chocolate boys...interesting! I attached a quick pic of the new pups and their exhausted mom. Thanks for your help! Colleen/Lexi/Bailey Last edited by kleen; 12-17-2008 at 02:01 PM. |

My Mom has a female chocolate and she is registered AKC. I believe you have to contact the AKC and tell them about it and how the parents are AKC. I think they will make you take photos and such, but in the end they will be registered AKC - not sure of the color though, I think brown ...I do love those brown babies and boys are my favorite One day I do want a chocolate boy - so cute! | |

| I have a chocolate Yorkie and You can register them with AKC if both parents are akc. What you have to do is send a pic of the front, sides and back of the dog showing all the color of the dog. I didnt mark any color on the paper i just sent the pictures. When you get the registration papers back they will be registered Chocolate and Tan. Hope this helps. |
