| Wow! It seems like you have it all covered. Do you give him a bath every week? That might help, along with the conditioning sprays. As far as the source... the only thing I can think of is the food - it's not very good quality food, but I've never heard of food causing a body odor!

| Sorry, but I have to disqualify myself from further input to this topic. I bathed Gus at noon. He sat in my lap most of the afternoon, and I thought about how nice and fresh he smelled. It was wonderful. You know the feeling. I picked my teenage niece up from school. Gus sat in her lap for the ride home. I expected her to comment on how nice he smelled. Suddenly, an unsolicited comment. She said he smelled like poop. He still smells good to me. I don't know what to make of it.

| When I first got Tucker he was given to me by someone who hadn't taken good care of him and he reeked. No matter what he smelled. I found out that he had urine soaked into the last 2-3 inches of his hair that wouldn't come out no matter how many baths I gave him. I gave him a trim and he instantly smelled better. I also think that the food does have something to do with his odor. Get him on a better quality food like Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul, Canidae, Nature's Variety, or Solid Gold. Purina is a really awful food and you'd do yourself and your puppy a favor by giving him something more nutricious. Good luck with everything!

| Is he getting any garlic in his food. This could make him reek. If he has any kind of allergies, this could also make him reek. It would be helpful to know just exactly what he smells like. |

| hi, did you ever figure out why your yorky has a funny smell? mine also smells, and it is a poop smell. he doesn't walk around in poop or roll around in it. and it's not getting stuck in his hair, but I do smell it and it is from his rear end. |

| All dogs smell to some extent. I remember when I first got Tibbe thinking I would almost gag at the dog smell & he was regularly bathed, kept clean & toileted outside after the first 2 or 3 weeks of crate-training. But after a while, I could no longer "smell" his odor. You eventually get used to your animal's routine smell. But I can walk in the house of another dog owner & immediately smell their very clean dog. (sorry for the big font - all I did was Spellcheck)

| Chloe never really stank but I switched her to a raw diet for other reasons and now she has almost zero "doggy" smell. I now believe that food affects a dog much more than I ever realized. Purina Pro Plan really isnt a great food, I know how hard it is to pick the right one especially with all the advertising lol. I would try a higher quality food or if your not sqeamish you could try raw, Chloe LOVES it and now even her poop is odour free lol. If changing diet doesnt help I would take him in to the vet to see if there is a medical reason. Good Luck

Thor generally doesn't smell, but I have noticed a musky odor on occasion. I feel like it's maybe triggered by contact with other dogs, because it was often very strong when he came back from daycare. I was told there is no such thing though.

| Wow, that's too bad. Our Dex is just 1 yr old. Smells great, makes us always want to cuddle him, we feed him royal canine. We bath him once a week. If it's hot and he takes a long walk he may smell a little doggy, but it goes away. His breath and kisses are adorable too. |

| I guess I don't know what a goat smells like but I imagine it's not good. I would suggest finding a better grade of food. Maybe a grain free to feed him. He could be having a reaction to an ingredient in what he is now eating. Odors are either generated by external sources or internal. If he is not rolling in anything then his body is producing the odor as a reaction to something he is eating. |

| I'll second the better food, but have some differing opinion on some of the other points- Make sure whatever food you switch to has NOT been affected by the recent recalls. I know Chicken Soup for the Petlover's soul had some recalls, as did Taste of The Wild. Some of the brands recalled were considered high quality foods. Be careful of over bathing your dog-I usually bathe Jaeger every 3-4 weeks but it had been every 2 weeks lately because he was recently neutered (before the surgery and 2 weeks after, he got a bath.) Our pup has been itchy lately and the vet said not to bathe him as much. YMMV-different dogs have different coats. Jaeger sometimes gets that strong dog smell, but since we've been using a coat conditioning spray daily, he now smells like the spray (and not the spray mixed with the stink.) Bottom line, the spray helped us. Maybe he's got a skin issue? Maybe a food reaction? I'd consult your vet |

| My Raley has had an odor problem but it is due to seborrhea oleosa. It is very much under control now so no more foul odor. Good luck!

| My daughter's Silky Terrier has NO odor when in the house. As soon as she goes outside or even sits by an open outside door, she develops a strong musty odor. Has anyone resolved this problem with their Terriers in past posts? |

| Dogs put out an odor when they are outside to let other dogs know they are near.
