| He is a Devil alright! Hi all, Purchased a Yorkshire Terrier 2 weeks ago, he was very quiet that evening. Since then all he seems to be doing is biting us constantly, hanging off our shoes, going for us, etc you name it. When I bring him to my fathers house he is quiet as a mouse he stayed there one or two nights and he knew my dad was boss. I reckon he has to be spoilt? Could anyone help us please........its driving me crackers..... Also just to let you know I have experience with Yorkies I did have one for 17 years before...... We are out an hour or two in the mornings and then again in the evenings but I don't think this would affect him?? Would appreciate any help at all. Duke's Owner!!!!!!! |

| You didn't say how old he is. so I'm guessing that he is a puppy. if he is playing too rough you need to behave as his litter mates would behave. they would yelp and move away from him and refuse to play. Don't push him away or he will think you are playing. they understand a ylep they do not understand human language. Although many people will tell you they do. If the yelping and moving away does not make him stop, then you need t5o act as his mother would and snap at him. Use your hand like a mouth and snap at him while touching his shoulder. Just keep doing this until he gets the message that if he won't play nice you won't play with him. also make sure that he has plenty of appropriate toys to chew on. It is very important that you do let him know that you are the bow, or he will take over and then you will have problems. |

| Oh they also do not understand being out in time out. Dogs speak with body language and action. You can use words to teach them tricks, but if you wan to stop something immediately, speak to them in their language. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I think you may have forgotten that the first year they are teething, and it's especially bad the first six months. Make sure you have plenty of chewing toys or sticks on hand. Joey especially likes Bully Sticks, and they have been a real lifesaver. I don't think it's because he spoiled he behaves this way, and he's probably quiet at your dad's house because he's scared. You don't really want he quiet as a mouse all the time do you? Get him something to chew on, or he will find something inappropriate to chew on.

| puppy out of control Hi, my puppy is 5 months old and lately he's out of control. He jumps on our lap when we're trying to eat, barks when scolded. He still bites us too. He's become very vocal lately. He also is getting big enough to jump up on everything. He jumps in the dryer, coffee table, kitchen etc. Will he grow out of this? I love him but I can't deal with this behavior. I'm afraid he'll hurt himself. He seems to be worse in the evening. He gets plenty of exercise and attention. |

| Out of control yorkie, also Zekie is a 5 mo. old male. He is very active, loves to play, constantly bites, jumps and climbs. He is also more active in the evening. I think it is just the age and the breed. I expect him to calm down with age, more walks, and more training. I have had no problem with his potty training so far, so hope that continues to go well. He is also getting very vocal. |

| I totally agree with what has been said....A puppy or adolescent wont' learn what is acceptable and what is not unless you teach them. Daizy responds to a quick snap of my fingers or CHH sound... She learned that what she was doing was not acceptable. Many times people think you don't have to discipline yorkies because they are so little...which will results in bad behavior... I recommend The dog whisperer...he is awesome and helps teach people how to be Pack leaders...instead of letting their pack run things! lol Good luck Take control and you'll have a happier home, and pooch.
