Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Mommy about to jump ship!!! Kinda Long Ever had one of those days? I got home last evening after attending a family support meeting for my best/friend sister who is in rehab... and delivering a b-day present to our neighbor around 9...I was gone for 3 hours. I left the pups alone from 6pm until about 7:15 when husband got home. I left all 3 of them out to potty before I left. When I came home, the house reeked of pee . Husband didn't put the dogs in bed with them, just let them roam the house...and when they have to pee and there is no one to open the door--guess what? I just steam cleaned Monday am, and I have a sensitive nose! He won't put them in their crates because he doesn't want to hear the barking, then says for us to sleep in the other room because he cant rest because Baxter sleeps either right up on his back or between his legs where he can't turn over. I know he has a point, but why let them destruct our home so you can get a few minutes of sleep When he got up at 1 am I opened the door to let them go potty, and asked husband to call them in before he left. He did, and put Baxter back in bed (he can't jump up on his own). When I get up and go to the bathroom to potty, I notice the bath mat flipped in half--I unfold it to see smashed in poop! I believe Darcy was the culprit, she doesn't sleep in the bed with us, and the bathroom is her favorite hangout. I know husband loved waking up to step in poop! I guess why I'm mad is that he never communicates anything. Why not wake me up and let me know the dogs had an accident so I could take care of it? Why not make sure the dogs potty before you go to bed? I am home almost 24/7, but feel like I can never leave because of stuff like this. I am up a minimum of twice per night for Darcy , the lasik makes her pee tons. I always take the other dogs too, there are never any accidents when I am here! Talking to him does no good, because he makes light of it. When I complain about having steam clean or pick up, he tells me I have nothing else to do . He doesn't consider working from home "real work" GRRRR. Then this morning Cooper cries and cries to be let out, only so he can have a barking match thru the privacy fence with the neighbors dog. When I tell him to hush, he runs in, cocks his head and gives me an innocent look, then runs back out to bark his head off more! This has went on for hours. Baxter is lying in the grass, sunbathing and casually taking it all in! We really need Caesar Milan to rehabilitate US! I think I am going to go get a margarita as soon as the hour is decent enough. Calgon, take me away!!! |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I get so mad. We have been together 15 years, and lack of communication has been a big issue from the beginning, but when I was 19 I was too dumb to realize that it was something that doesn't get better on its own. |

| Sorry, that made me laugh! Hang in there Amy. I know how frustrating it is to feel like you are doing double the work, when a tiny bit of effort by your husband would have made your life so much easier. I've been with my boyfriend for nearly 5 years (insane without a ring, I know) while he finishes up his PhD. I keep asking my married friends if is it him or are all males like this. Unfortunately, it seems it is all males lack some of that common sense gene! Luckily, my boyfriend is very helpful with Rory, but sometimes he does the dumbest stuff, and I want to scream!

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Awww...don't feel that way...we were together 10 years before we were married, and engaged for 5 of them! I was the one dragging my feet. Marriage is really overrated... I feel bad because It sounds like I am badmouthing him. He really is a good husband, he works very hard, and expects very little from me...meals, and a clean house... but he can be so selfish sometimes it is just plain irritating. The old passive aggressive me wouldn't have cooked dinner, and told him I was too busy steam cleaning and doing laundry, plus filling orders...there was no time. Throwing fits doesn't work...he thinks its funny when I get mad..it happens so rarely. Reasoning with him doesn't work either, because he just comes back with they are "MY DOGS" Maybe he needs a shock collar??? |

| Aww. Sorry to hear that I too work from home. I still live with my parents - in my country, most people do that until they're married. My stepdad isn't fond of dogs, but tough luck, my mom loves them and she's the main provider of this family He claims he has "allergies"... but my mom lets the dogs romp on their bed when he's out working - and he sleeps in it still, no problem. Unlike a friend of mine who will get all red and itchy from the merest contact. And then, we brought the dogs to the mountains for a vacation, now every night Mocha will bark, when before she's not much of a barker - it's driving me nuts. Sorry to follow the rant.. Just want you to know I feel your pain, I have alot of problems with my stepdad.. but good thing for me I bought Mocha and take care of her with my own money, so he can't say nothing. Just hold on there. Think nice things. Go to your happy place

I know what you mean about your husband not being a bad guy - my boyfriend is not a bad guy, but we all have our days! I had to read a book in school called Don't Shoot the Dog - it talks about how you can "train" other family members just like you train the dog with positive reinforcement techniques. Well Rory was easy to train...still working on the rest of the family!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I here ya!!! I am home most of the time early retirement after being the major breadwinner for 33 years, but if I am gone for a few hours I come home and say did you let the dogs out (only 2 go outside, 2 are pad trained) he'll say no they didn't ask, they NEVER ask you just have to take them out!!! I have beem with him for 38 years, married 26 of them and he isn't going to change!!! I also know what you mean about being up at night. Maya my pom has cushings disease and heart failure and she is always starving and has to pee so I am up every 2-3 hours. Hope your day is better and hope your BF/sister is successful in her rehab.Hugs!

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Yeah, I have a secret confession: I find Caesar very very sexy, but it could just be his accent Thanks for your kind words in regards to my friend. I call her sister since we have been best friends since we were 14. I had to make the very hard decision to have her committed. It meant she lost her job, but she was already losing her home, and she needed a fresh start. Her problems were so severe the doctor agreed to hold her for longer than the 72 hrs so we could find a free rehab...and the caseworker did. We found out exactly a month after she entered the rehab that she is PREGNANT. The doctor said since the drug/alcohol use was only in the first month of her pregnancy the baby will be ok...and he is growing right on schedule!!! Her mother and sister aren't supportive of her in the least, in fact, they do more harm than good. I have power of attorney and am handling all her money, etc. for her. I wonder if sometimes thats why so many mistakes happen when I am away.,..husband says this is wasted effort, she is never going to change, and I will be hurt in the end. All I can do is hope and pray that this time "takes", and the baby gives her a reason to live! |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Icing on the cake...Baxter just barfed in two spots on my newly cleaned carpet....looks like just dog food, probably from eating too fast. At this point, all I can do is laugh. |

| I've been married for 34 yrs now and I can be busy and he will call out "The Dogs have to go outside" my favorite one is "One of the dogs is throwing up"! Sometimes it gets on my nerves but then I stop and think they are my dogs and he was nice enough to let me have three. Hang in there it's bound to get better. He was great!!! Anyhoo wish I could be of some help but I don't have any advice to give.....my hubby has always helped with our dogs... I am a little surprised he doesn't at least try to help since he LIVES WITH THEM TOO!! LOL you poor thing! If you can't talk to him and he refuses to help...I'm at a loss... Can't you negotiate a little bit?? Maybe the only thing you can do is VENT....then DRINK.....then take it one day at a time!!! LOL

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Yeah he thinks its cute to holler "YOU got POOP" when Baxter gets in the litter box. I tell him its a special kind of person who would rather smell poop and wait for his wife to get it than just take care of it He does help me with them though, only when it comes to the fun things like play time and giving treats and cuddles. I suppose if we would have had skin kids it would have been the same thing! |
