| Off to the vet(any last suggestions?) Suri has an appointment today at 1530. Anymore questions I should ask, I am making a list to take. I am going to ask about nutrition, when to come back for the tooth extraction, (we already did a complete blood work up on her before she came home.) and I will bring my yorkie for dummies so he can look at the different diseases yorkies are prone to, to check. Also she is losing her voice? It sounds different when she barks now. I don't let her constantly bark, I wait until she stops which is usually like 2 minutes then praise her for not barking. Anywho,, anything else? Thank you for everyone's help. I know I am asking a lot of questions but truthfully I am very nervous. I am scared to even leave her alone because of what happened to Evee. I try not to think about those things but they tend yo creep up because they look like and actrd like twins. weird…

| Kim, try not to think about the negative things. Think of how healthy she's going to be and how much love you're going to shower her with and how many happy years you'll all spend together! I think I'd have him check her legs (I'm not really sure how old they would be when any problems might show up, but just in case) and her trachea (I think there's a way they can tell if they're prone to collapsing trachea). Other than that, good luck with everything and we expect a full report this evening after her visit.

It's ok, to tell them "No", two minutes is lots of barking, and maybe she is getting a little hoarse. Telling her afterwards she was good may make her think you enjoyed the barking. I think the Pennies in the can works great to stop barking, it's not aversive enough to cause discomfort or pain, it's just annoying, and they don't particularly like it. Say the word, No followed by a shake of the can. It also helps to raise your index finger over your lips, and say shhhh, they are much more observant to hand signals than words. Joey is to the point where I can just put my finger over my lips and don't need to say anything. This is especially good when he's out in the yard, away from me, and he starts barking at a passerby. I can just raise my finger now, and he stops. The first time it worked I was actually amazed; it's so cool. This still doesn't work for doorbell yet, but I'm working on it. Good luck with the visit!

Right now when she barks I turn around or leave the room when she barks and when she stops for a bit I go in. My boyfriends dogs learned relax which as helpful for barking and running wild But with Suri any attention such as no, pennies seems to make her bark more like it is a game. I guess the ignoring bad behavior is the only one that's working, but I'll try what you said.
