| Did I have "Time Wasting" questions? I'm the one who posted about the 7lb yorkie earlier... Well I had e-mailed the lady earlier in the morning asking if they still had him but had Matt (my husband) call early this afternoon because she hadn't replied and I wanted to try to get him and didn't want too much time to pass. He didn't tell her I had emailed as I even forgot to tell him. Well he basically just found out if they still had him, and asked about weight and such and then he said we would talk and he would call back later sometime. Well a few hours after that she emailed me back basically saying they still had him but they had, had several people call/email. I decided to email back (not feeling it important that I tell her my husband was the one who called earlier) to find out some info that my husband didn't on the phone. This is what I asked: ------------------------------ Were any of the calls/emails serious inquiries? If so how long are you giving them to respond back saying if they want him? I have a few questions about him. Is he purebred? Is he up to date on all shots and has been given a clean bill of health? Also do you own both the mother and the father? I'm curious because I am wondering if parents have been through a thorough health check. Is your Kennel Registered? Thank you for any answers and I hope you have had a wonderful weekend thus far!!------------------------------ So yes it was a lot of questions, but all valid I think.... this was her reply... ------------------------------ yes he is pure parents are pure not going thru a million questions for a pup well worth more than asking . having lots o f illness on my husband ... first come first serve ..............................------------------------------ I felt it was so rude! I opened the email and was taken aback. I almost felt like crying because up until this point I was getting really excited about this puppy and was starting to get my hopes up (he is the last on in his litter so his price was reduced to something we could afford). There is no way I am going to purchase the dog from her now. I feel like she talked to me like I was stupid for asking questions. I don't care if the dog was $50 aren't those valid questions? Was I wrong in the questions I asked? Am I just being emotional because I got excited about the puppy and maybe she isn't really being that rude? |

| that was rude, my mom is in the hospital and i was talking to a prospective buyer for a puppy i have as i was talking to her my mom decided to get out of her wheelchair and go running down the hallway, i am trying to chase her down while still talking to the buyer and had to hurry and get off the phone. luckily i got enough info to her so she could go to my house and see the puppy and hubby explained what was going on, i was embarresed by the way i ended the call but glad that hubby explained. if she dosent have time to answer questions now will she take the time to be there afterwards if something would happen? walk away now, you want someone that is there to answer any questions you might have. jmo.

| Yes, I think she was rude also. I have had a couple of litters to place and you do get lots of calls and sometimes it is so repetitive, but gosh I wouldn't want any puppy to go to someone who didn't ask all the questions, you sound like a great prospective buyer! Also, "first come, first serve" that doesn't seem like a good way to place a puppy Good luck finding your puppy, hopefully will be soon |

| I would walk away...she missed the most important questions, is he healthy! One major thing I have learned is the price never matters. You can pay thousands or $50 but if thr pup may not be healthy you may pay for it later. Good luck in finding your forever yorkie, but I would have to say pass.

| ops I guess I should clarify, THIS dog wasn't $50 (he is $300) but I was trying to make the point that it shouldn't matter if he was $50 or $5000 I thought they were valid questions. |

I know you are disappointed, but not getting this puppy is probably a blessing in disguise. Anyone who sells puppies on a "first come, first serve basis" is not a reputable breeder. A reputable breeder asks lots of questions of prospective buyers to make sure they can provide a good home for one of their precious puppies. They also expect to get - and answer - lots of questions from you. Please, please don't buy a puppy based upon price alone. A bargain puppy will usually cost you much, much more over it's lifetime than a puppy from a reputable breeder will. My Lady is a rescue and poorly bred. Her vet bills are now up to $5,000 a year! If money is an issue, take your time to save more money and search for a reputable breeder. It will save you money and more importantly, heartbreak, in the future. | |

But yes I think I have decided to up my price bracket a little |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Oh, I'm so sorry this happened to you, I know it so exciting getting a puppy, but those were all great questions, when someone makes you feel this way trust your gut feelings about it. I learned the hard way that buying a dog from a back yard breeder can be a very expensive proposition. Vet's don't come cheaply these days, and you often don't find out the dog has a genetic illness until it's two years old, and you are thoroughly in love with him. If you feel like you can offer a good home to a pet, find a breeder who values this fact, many breeders are more interested in placing their dogs in a good home than making a profit.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | How rude. I would definatley run from that one. As everyone said far better to pay more initially for a healthy dog than have the heartache and expense of a sick puppy. I too learned the hard way with Cali from a BYB that I found in the newspaper (prior to finding YT) and she was so sick as a puppy and still has many problems. I spent 7000 first year I had her and she is on lifetime medicine now. I know the right puppy is out there for you just do your research. I know it is disappointing.
