Do whatever you want.........but when you resort to calling names, then I hit the nail on the head. I'm not dumb enough to breed 3 different dogs together and TRY TO charge $650-1200 for them.

I think anyone would thank God that their dogs are healthy, but the health of your exisiting dogs (or anyones existing dogs) is not what is in question. It's the health of These are not all neccessarily genetic. If you needed brain surgery, you could go to a doctor who has spent many years studying the brain, has worked with other doctors, and had proven to others his qualifications to do surgery. Or you could ask a friend, who is good with tools, and has read a few websites on brain surgery. Which would you choose, or in some cases, which have you chosen? While breeding isn't exactly brain surgery you are creating a life, and that life will have an impact on many other lives, it's not the same as creating a new "product" that can be disposed of easily if nobody likes it. Only support those breeders who have actually studied the subject thoroughly, have spent time with other breeders/mentors who were themselves experts, and have proven to others that they have the qualifications to be a great breeder.

This has me confused. Since Maltese are white, why would you think the mom had anything to do with producing mostly black colored babies? I can understand different moms putting out different looking babies as far as face, structure and coat quality but how could a Maltese influence a litter to be more black in color?

The maltese was not the one who offered the dominant gene (black) for the coloring...the only gene she has to give is the extreme recessive pie bald gene.

That's why I asked the question. Why trade out one Maltese for another in an effort to get rid of black? I just don't follow the logic in that.

And, if so thats her decision. Whats the difference if shes breeding to make the breed better...or if shes breeding because someone wants an offspring from her dogs whether it is a purebred or not. I think sometimes we use the excuse of MAKING THE BREED BETTER to justify raising the litter, afterall we all have differences of opinions of what better is....
