| ![]() Callie wears a collar all the time with her rabies tag on it and her name tag with my number on it but I never hook a leash to it but I fear she will some how run out the door when its opened and get lost and if she didnt have a collar with her tags on it I might never get her back even tho I have never lost her when she has gotten out the front door door! But when she is going to be on the leash I use a harness but to hook the leash to but still leave her collar on with her tags on. Her collar is kinda just like a necklace lol.

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | ![]() My four have collars and used to wear them. But we don't use them anymore because..... 1 - with all of their rough and tumble play I'm paranoid of their teeth getting caught on anothers' collar 2 - because I have had two of them as pups get their own collar caught in their mouths 3 - the fear of them getting snagged on something & being choked 4 - since we use harnesses when we go for walks, what's the point of the collar? 5 - collars get their neck hair tangled/matted easier and/or more often 6 - they are all micro-chipped for identification

| ![]() The breeder asked that I never put a collar on Abby -- only a harness. I ended up buying a "YapWrap" from QVC and love it! Here is a photo (sorry it's dark). |

| ![]() I do not have a collar on Onni at any time. She wears a harness only when we need to have her on a leash. She is just to small to risk a collar around her neck.

| ![]() All 3 of my Yorkie's are Micro-chipped and they only wear their Harnesses when they are going on a Walk w/a leash, depending on where thay are walking to? Most of the time they don't wear anything, except for my smallest one Tiffany Aloha is on a Harness & Leash all the time since she chases anything and everything, I don't Trust her. They have plenty of different Collars but I use them more as jewelry to match their outfits. I have Trained them not to run out/charge once any Door is opened. I have heard too many horror stories about small Dogs choking to death once a collar is caught on something and they go into Panic! Plus matting their hair around their neck and making too much noise w/their ID. Tags. It's not worth all the worrying! |

| ![]() They both wear collars here too for ID purposes only. I do not walk them attached to their collars because for the trach issues. When they do go on the leash Pebbles has a Gentle Leader head collar because she is a puller and Doodlebug has a harness. I still leave on their collars so they have an ID just in case. Mine are in and out so much during the day it is just easier to keep them on at all times. I do take them off at night and they get groomed and loved before bed otherwise they will mat around their necks.

| ![]() Atticus wears a cat collar all the time (no tag, he's never out of sight but he does have a microchip) for the sole purpose of the tinkle of the little bell. He's so small and is often under foot that if he didn't wear it he'd surely get stepped on!

| ![]() Thats interesting...kinda sucks cause I just bought ewok a LV leash and collar. I do have a harness but its so god awful ugly and nylon....Kinda strange that neither of my vets...(I have two seperate ones) said anything about collapsing trachea. They just said yes he is old enough now to wear a collar. Didnt let me use one when he was younger. Now he is 24 weeks old. Is there a scientific basis on the relation between collar and collapsed trachea? Or are you guys just keeping it safe? |

| ![]() A collarless harness is more advisable for Yorkies.

| ![]() We leave Carmen's collar on part of the time, usually when we take her outside or if we go somewhere. The collar seems to irriate her skin if it's on too long. |
