| is Max just a puppy ? He has figured out that when you get your shoes on your going to leave... he may also be just playing though. My Yorkie loves our shoes... He needs to be distracted with something else and taught not to do these things. The 2 yr old is what I am concerned about. You will need to keep your dog in anther room when the baby is around. If your dog is this possessive with his toys, a little child will not understand. 2 yr. olds are the same with their toys. Do not have them together, or take the chance of your dog biting. I love my puppy very, very much. However, if she were aggressive, I would never have her around a baby... The 2 yr. old comes first, and the safety needs to be number one priority.

| Latte and the Shoe Attack Latte always liked to attack shoes-especially when people walked down the hallway. I solved this with my nephew and grandkids by buying them slippers. Then if she "attacked" she was really just attacking Ernie's head on the slippers! She really is just playing. She outgrew it. She hardly ever does it now. |

| I remember that Max has a pretty bad liver problem...Many of those dogs become aggressive when the toxins build up, and then the aggressiveness turns into a bad habit that's hard to break. First, make sure toxins aren't building up (and that he's getting enough lactulose, proper supplements, vegetarian protein, several small meals per day, etc), then address the aggressiveness. I'm sure you'll get wonderful advice on how to correct that behavior.

Donating Yorkie Yakker | you can find a puppy playpen or use a real one---buy some stand alone gates and set them up-keep the puppy in there when the 2 yr old is over. The parent's of the 2 yr old should be keeping him away from the dog-it is part their responsibility since he is their child- your child is your puppy and you watch him |

If this is new behavior for him, then I'd be concerned about what Yorkieluv is bringing up here, first and foremost.

It sounds to me like the dog is the pack leader in your house and he is trying to tell you what you can and cannot do. So speak to him in his own language. when he does something you disapprove of you snap at him like he does at you. Make it quick and instantanious. If there is a 2 second gap betwen his behavior and your correction he will not get the message. Never allow him to win. You need to let him know that you are the leader and that you call the shots. Use your hand as a mouth and nip at him. Bare your teeth to him and growl if neccessary. Eat in front of him and do not allow him to approach the food. Make him sit before you put his food down. All of those little things tell the dog that you are pack leader. | |
