I remember that Max has a pretty bad liver problem...Many of those dogs become aggressive when the toxins build up, and then the aggressiveness turns into a bad habit that's hard to break. First, make sure toxins aren't building up (and that he's getting enough lactulose, proper supplements, vegetarian protein, several small meals per day, etc), then address the aggressiveness. I'm sure you'll get wonderful advice on how to correct that behavior.
