| I never put our guys in the pool, I won't get the chlorine in my hair so I don't want it in theirs either. My Cooper has sensitive skin and I cannot imagine putting him in a chlorinated pool. I just don't think it could be good on their skin/hair. Just my opinion though, I'm kind of a neurotic mommy. |

| I don't think it would be too bad if you don't do it too often. Make sure you have a chlorine test kit and test the water to be sure it doesn't have too much in there for them OR for people.

| Well, we actually have something called Nature 3 along with the regular filter. It cleans and sanitizes the water so you use less chemicals, especially chlorine. We all have allergies and sensitive skin and it seems to help. As far as the dogs go, we have put them each in once, just to see how they liked it. None really did. Now they float around for a little bit or lay on the deck and watch!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | We have an in-ground and our guys go in it with us occasionally and it's just fine. There are a lot of YT folks w/ pools who take their babies in the pools - they usually bathe them afterwards as the hair can get quite tangly. Chlorine on their skin is really no different from chlorine on our skin. As long as the pool is in a balanced state, it should be okay. Of course, it goes without saying that they should never be in there alone. (and I'm just saying that for posterity's sake, not for you - I know you know that )

| We have an in ground pool and have always taken our dogs in it at least to know that they can swim and hopefully go to the steps to get out, in case they accidentally fall in. The Schnauzers hated it, but passed the test, so when they did fall in they survived. We took Yorkie Tiki (4½ months) in about a month ago, and she LOVES it, and kept jumping back in on the step when we'd put her out. Now she gets to swim for a few minutes about once a week when my granddaughter is over, and we rinse her after. And today she had her first accidental fall into pool, and came up swimming and I scooped her out within seconds. Now I just hope she doesn't try going in without me; I never let the puppies out in the yard unattended.

| I bring Meeko in our pool every so often. Only it's it's really hot and we're outside for a while and his body feels hot. He loves the water! If there's a empty raft by the edge of the pool, he always jumps on and then jumps off into the water. He must have sensitive skin to the chlorine tho because when he gets out he rubs up against out couch for the rest of the night. This is after he's already dried off, he scratches himself more. Since noticing this, I haven't brought him in as often and I give him a bath when we're out for the day. Just be careful and if you do notice him itching more, limit the amount of time in the pool and rinse him.

| My boyfriend use to bring his dogs in the pool when he lived at his old place. I would recommend taking them a bath afterward or at least rinsing them off after. The chemicals tend to pull out the natural oils in your skin, so this can help to prevent irritation to the skin.

| We have an inground pool and when my babies were about 8 mos, I introduced them to the pool to make sure they could swim, showed them where the ladder was so they could climb out in case they did fall in. And when my husband and I are swimming in the pool they have their own boat that they love to sit in while we swim. |

| read the lable on your chlorine and it will tell you how long to wait after applying it to the pool. I would think it would be the same for dogs as it is for humans. I usually shock our pool after swimming just to prevent any skin irritation.

| Well, I know you have an above ground pool, but for those of you who are reading this post, my Harlee got startled when I shut the umbrella and fell in the pool...My husband was in and I was 1 foot away from her....The scared look on her face as she tried to stay above water...I scooped her out immediately...That's another reason why no one ever, ever goes outside alone !!!!! IT ONLY TAKES A SECOND FOR AN ACCIDENT TO HAPPEN.... PLEASE WATCH YOUR BABIES !!!!!:ee k:

| We have an inground pool, and Daisy goes in occasionally. I usually only let her go in when its really hot out because she needs a nice bath afterwards. I never let her go out back unattended as she did fall in once |
