We have an in ground pool and have always taken our dogs in it at least to know that they can swim and hopefully go to the steps to get out, in case they accidentally fall in. The Schnauzers hated it, but passed the test, so when they did fall in they survived. We took Yorkie Tiki (4½ months) in about a month ago, and she LOVES it, and kept jumping back in on the step when we'd put her out. Now she gets to swim for a few minutes about once a week when my granddaughter is over, and we rinse her after. And today she had her first accidental fall into pool, and came up swimming and I scooped her out within seconds. Now I just hope she doesn't try going in without me; I never let the puppies out in the yard unattended. |
