| Frustrated!!! I am so frustrated with Teddy!!...He keeps pottying on my carpet!...what is so frustrating is he only does it when we are home...he holds it when we are gone and he holds it all night...but he does it when we are sitting there! A few weeks ago he was sick with diarreha and we were wondering if this could have messed him up....He was doing so good with his pottying that i even went and shampooed the carpets but now he thinks it is ok to start pottying on the clean carpets!! What should I do? He also goes to the door and scratches to go out so we let him out and he will go and do some pottying in the yard but than he will come in and not even 10 min later he is peeing on my clean carpets!!!! HELP ME PLEASE....We love this little guy! We just want him to potty outside

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | How old is he? Could he be marking instead of peeing? It's really important to get all the "smell" from past accidents or he will want to mark on the smell. To do this you need to use an enzyme cleaner sold at pet stores. First spray the spot, and absorb moisture, then liberally spray again and let air-dry. While it is drying special enzymes eat the protein that is in urine and feces, and this protein is what attracts the dog back to the spot. You can also get a black light and it will show all the "spots" that your eyes can't see. You'd be amazed what you can see with one of these lights. I use Natures Miracle or Simple Solutions, just be sure what you buy has an "enzyme" in it.

| It sounds like he regressed on his training when he was sick. Dont wait for him to scatch on the door take him out every 1/2 hr to 45 mins and give him a treat when he goes. Hes got the hardest part of it if he holds it when you are gone. Best of luck

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Chachi, since it's just 10 minutes after she's brought him in, don't you think it's probably marking? Regular shampooing doesn't get the smell up.

| Joing in your Frustration I have the same problem with Cooper. He is 7 months and neuterd too. But he is defiantly marking but then coming in from outside on a long walk and pooping in the house in 10 min. I have been watching the show on animal planet "its me or the Dog" I have tried a lot Victoria's suggestions. BUT I am beginning to see that I might have a consistancy problem with Coop. becaus... my family is not helping me. THey are just yelling,,,,, "MOM YOUR DOG POOPED ON THE FLOOR" They don't try to stop him when they see him going or stop what they are doing to let him out. I am beginning to see that it is actually training the owner along with the dog. My family and I have had a terrible time with him I am ready to take him with me and move out. LOL Leave the grown-ups here. and me and my furbabie will go away... LOL

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | It seems like this happens after lots of people shampoo, I wonder if the shampooing spreads the smell around? I did the regular steam cleaning when Joey was about six months old, and then used Natures Miracle in the tank for the final pass through, this seemed to work. Remember they will "mark" on surfaces where they can smell any protein; both urine and poop contain protein, sometimes they will even mark on a food stain. Marking is lessened by neutering and the smell isn't as strong, but male dogs will still mark under certain conditions, so if you can get these smells up, I think the marking will stop.

| Thanks everyone I just love this place. There is so much great information.... I learn something every day. I also shampooed the carpets right before this started.... I didn't use the enzyme stuff in the last pass though just in the regular cleaner. I am right now getting ready to move my oldest daughter to her new house. YEAH I love her but she is 28 and needs to be back out on her own and I need to be the mom again... If you get my drama.... Anyway... when she is gone I am going to be also sending my last son off to college in 2 weeks... Empty nest.... yeah... I will have all this room to re arrange things and I am going to get right down to moving the furniture and get a black light and do it really good with a Rug Doctor instead of my own little bissel scrubber. Then hopefully before the weather gets cold I can get him completely trained to pee pads in the house when the weather is bad outside. or he can go outside when he goes for a walk. I know it won't be easy but I am going to as they say "Git 'er done!!" Sorry for the novel. But I love this place you guys are great to listen to us all out. I love my furbabie and I can't wait to have him to myself...

I don't think you should feel so bad, he sounds like he's better trained than most, if he goes to the door. I doubt if you need to shampoo the carpets again. I would get one of those lights and just spray the spots that show up. He really isn't peeing if he does this 10 minutes after coming in. You can also tell by the size of the spot, marking stains are like a tablespoon or less on a Yorkie, pee is much more than that amount. Some people have found that wearing a belly band with a sanitary pad discourgaes marking especially for unnuetered boys. However, I think if you take care of the spots, he will stop marking.

| I might have found a solution... I found a thread today by Dina Nicole. I am going to try to attach it so you can check it out. I a quite excited about this. Of course. I have to do all the cleaning over like I said before. But If I get serious about this training and really stick with it and maybe just maybe I would get lucky this time. The litter box ended up a bed... and He shredded the disposable pee pads. So... I am going to try my own home made version of this doggy potty and if it works I will order one. If my home made version works I will let all of you know how I made my own. I am trying to do it with some things I have around home. I did some research and found some things that might work. I am on a very fixed income. I think I will only have to buy the turf. I may have a remedy for the boys that lift their legs too. give me a day or two. to work it out. here is the link to the post http://http://www.yorkietalk.com/for...dog-potty.html http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...dog-potty.html Good luck
