Donating YT 10K Club Member | Ugg..... This is a particularly nasty tactic I think....I'm sure PETA won over a lot of people this way too. PETA Media Center > Recent News Releases : Crafty PETA Ad Placed in Dog Fancy Offers 'Gift Bag' That Turns Out to Be a Body Bag

| I do not like this tactic at all...... Fact is people rather have a pure bred...This is only my opinion.... The sheltered animals I have seen, typically have some kind of problem...

| That IS a nasty tactic ... and an extremely low one at that. I think it's also unfair, counterintuitive and counterproductive to place the blame for the fate of the shelter dogs on those who had no hand in them ending up there. Peta's money would be better spent on pet ownership education for the general public to help prevent the animals ending up in kill shelters in the first place. One's decision to buy a purebred dog does NOT equal a shelter dog's death ... irresponsibility, dumping animals, refusing to spay and neuter outdoor animals, and a lack of concern for animal welfare = shelter dogs' deaths. I support a lot of what PETA stands for, but this really disgusts me. Rather than win support, they have more than likely aleinated the very individuals on whom their financial support is dependant with this tasteless little gimmick. | that's just depressing to think about, and did they even take into condiseration all those who have multiple furbabies and some of those came from shelters???? Another thing, I've seen losts of posts here on YT alone where people talk about neutering their puppies. As long as there is education, people tend to make the right choices. |

| A lot of animal rights supporters don't support PETA, eventhough they have a lot of support from celebrities. from what I understand they don't even want people to own pets... They have a lot of harsh tactics. In black and white, yeah maybe buying from a breeder does keep a dog in a shelter because in theory you could have gone and adopted a dog, but there is more to it than just the black and white image. That's just rude of them to do. If quality breeders stopped breeding, that would be giving in to the puppymills and BYB's, ultimately they are the reason for the animal overpopulation, they should be more concerned about tactics to stop them then to harrass people who provide good homes for pets.

| Oh my goodness. This is just soooo over the top. And they want support for this kind of thing? They aren't getting it from me. Although I know it can be debated all day that only one person in the PETA organization said that they don't want people to own dogs or whatever it was, but the fact is they hate breeders. If you get all dogs spayed and neutered and you don't have breeders, you don't have dogs. They say you should never buy from a breeder. If breeders stop breeding, even for a little while, the lines of great dogs are done. That appears to be what they stand for and I absolutely will not support that. As much as it is nice to rescue an animal and a good thing to do (and I might someday), I didn't create the over population problem and I happen to like purebred Yorkies and the conformation of purebred dogs. Why not take this up with the people who keep breeding mixes and then taking them to shelters instead of those who breed purebreds and reserve the right of first refusal, so their dogs never end up there?

| PETA needs to realize that not everybody has the experience or is equiped to adopt a pet from the shelter. Most of those animals experienced a bad past and may need some issues to be worked out. Not everybody has the time, patience, or skills to deal with those sort of issues. So what do they do if they can't handle it? The pet goes right back into the shelter, or they decide to have it put down. On the other hand, pets that come from responsible breeders rarely take up space in a shelter. I don't understand why PETA is being so narrow-minded about this issue. I wish I could fully support them (I like their anit-fur campaigns), but unfortunately a lot of their tactics are way out of hand.

| You know what else is over the top? Have you heard about the bus slaying in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba? A 22 year old was riding the bus, sleeping, on his way home to Winnipeg from Edmonton, and the guy next to him pulled out a butcher knife, stabbed him, cut his head off, and started eating his flesh. Well PETA decided this would be a great time to come out with an ad saying that's what we do to animals, and to try to put that ad in the Portage La Prairie newspaper!!!! For goodness sake, his family, his friends, the whole country is grieving. I really hate how far PETA takes their tactics sometimes.
