I wouldn't do either. I agree with the others, either paypal or a credit card where at least you have some recourse.

Unfortunately, the breeder does not do Paypal, and my friend does not have a Paypal account. I just don't know what to tell her. She really loves this puppy. She contacted the breeder's references and vet and was pleased. She has spoken to the breeder several times.

I think it's different when she has contacted the breeder's references and vet, most people don't do this. However, I don't know which of the two alternatives is better, I think if she trusts the breeder than it doesn't matter. Joey's breeder wanted a certified cashiers check, and I was a little insulted, but you have to look it from their point of view too.

if the breeder is reputable, then they will not have any problem with going through puppy escrow. I think that is the best choice

would she be able to have someone on here go check out the puppies just to be on the safe side? I'm just so suspicious of this stuff as I had many scammers trying to sell me a puppy back when I got Zoe. Once I said I wanted my cousin to pick up the dog or a friend they all got funny like one of them I told I wasn't comfortable sending western union but my cousin lived near them and I was going to give her the cash and have her pick up the pup and they said they don't do that, only western union. Yeah, right. Like I ever would've gotten a pup at all..... Maybe someone on here has already dealt with the breeder. Why don't you post the name and see....

I agree, I don't see why a wire transfer is so necessary unless this is a scam. Has your friend met the breeder in person and saw the environment the puppy is coming from? Wire transfers on the whole is just weird to me. Pay pal is safe but it may cost you a bit more because you will have to pay some sort of fee so the other person can collect their money.

I haven't personally used Puppy Escrow but I hear good things.

Any one that has email can receive money from paypal so that excuse is not valid -- USE ONLY PAY PAL

Sorry girls ( including one of my friends and a client ( you know who you are ) But Puppyescrow is not a 100% safe or good way to do either as they have been known to get funds from a buyer and tell the seller they never got it - I know this for a fact - I took their legal contract to my lawyer just recently when a lady that is now waiting on her baby asked about it and my lawyer told me to stay away from it -

Use only Pay pal and you won't have problems

usually when they ask you to use western union or wire transfer it is a SCAM!!

Do you not realize that you need to really "check references" ? by that i mean i was checking on a buyer just this week and when checking the "vet" etc I found out the names and numbers i was calling were actually just people ( probably her partners in crime so to speak ) cause when i did a reverse look up of the phone number it didn't go to a vet or a groomer or anyone that sounded like they knew anything about the person - it was just made up. If it doesn't sound or feel right - don't do it !!!!!

Walmart super centers have a good program in place with Money grams. I have used it to recieve puppy money and send puppy money. But it is the only one I trust and again, you have to know who you are dealing with.

Were this my decision....I would chose electronic wire transfer but only from my bank to her bank...not a cash outlet. Western Union would be considered a cash outlet. There's probably others. Electronic transfer from her bank to the seller's would leave a detailed paper trail. The seller would've had to provide identification to open the account plus the buyer would have the seller's bank's routing number along with her account number.

If you are ever awarded a judgement against another individual...in order to collect if you aren't paid...you need to have the banking information.

I really don't find it alarming that the seller doesn't accept paypal...and most who do probably don't have any problem with it...but I can imagine the possibilities. Get the funds...ship puppy and then a charge back appears on your account. Not to mention the service fees...

It's a very easy process really. I receive payments that way for work all the time.

I will say...if the seller objects to this method..then I would be highly suspicious. There aren't any fees to receive an ETF, there aren't any questions on funds and the deposit usually takes a day to show up in your account.

Yes, you are right, I mean you actually call the numbers and speak with the vet and ask him questions about this particular breeder and puppies. I would also want to make sure it was a land phone and not cell phone numbers, because these can be purchased anonymously.
