				   | There is a family who lives about a block from me. I drive by the house everyday on my way home, and everyday she sits on the porch, huddled in the corner. A beautiful little girl who looks to be no more than 6 months old. She sits outside with no food or water visible most of the time in the 90 degree heat and the freezing rain. I just want to snatch her up and take her home with me. I have contacted the local dog warden and all they can do is "educate them" on taking better care of her. I spoke with the owner and asked her if I could have her, she was hesitant, made excuses. I want to rescue her, I'm not sure where to go from here. Help, who do I talk to now?

				   | I hope you get her; I can not imagine treating a Yorkie like that or any dog. But Yorkies are such babies and love being spoiled. You should not get one if you do not want another child.

				   | Did anyone from the humane society pay her a visit to educate her? If you really want to save the dog, have you tried offering this woman money? Sometimes unfortunatly money talks ...Please kept us updated.

				   | I spoke with the Dog Warden this morning and they are going to pay her a visit. The dog isn't licensed so they can seize her for up to 72 hours in order to give the owner time to license her, unless she releases her to the warden then she is available for immediate adoption. I did offer her money and she still was hesitant. I'm going to keep in close contact with the dog warden and find out when and if she is available. I'm crossing my fingers that she will be available soon and I will be able to adopt her and provide her with all the love and care she deserves!

				   | I talked to the dog warden this afternoon and he says according to Ohio law tying her up outside is legal, because she has an awning to go under. I personally think this is ridiculous. She is suffering in the heat and the cold, and though she doesn't have a license they failed to seize her as they said they would. So, I guess I search elsewhere, local humane society, shelters, whatever it takes to get her the kind of home she deserves. Any ideas are welcome!

				   | I feel a late night commando mission coming on....... Is the dog left out at night or just during the day? Maybe if we descend on her as a whole she'd cave to the monetary offer. Come on Ohioians, band together and march!!! Okay okay, I need food. It's an all around sad situation. I hate things like this. I'm sorry, hopefully something good will happen for this poor baby

				   | You could picket her front sidewalk with a sign stating she is neglecting her puppy. Saying she either needs to treat her fur baby right or give it up to a home where someone else will love and cherish the little pup!You might even be able to get some neighbors to help.

				   | I agree, they are paid to do a job that apparently their hearts are not in. She is left out all night. Apparantly a neighbor told the dog warden that she is taken in and out all day. He's says maybe I shouldn't drive by the same time every day... I don't but whatever. I'm still fighting. I don't have alot of money, sadly otherwise I would write the check for whatever it took to bring her home. My hubby jokes about stealing her...if it wasn't illegal I would! GRRRRR. I just want to bring her home.

				   | What do you all think about starting a postcard/letter writing campagne? If we all write to this woman and tell her what we have heard and what we think she should do, don't you think it would help? Can you imaging getting hundreds of letters from people you don't even know telling you that you are mistreating your dog? Would we have ground rules like no cussing or name calling? Any ideas? |

				   | Maybe more education is all that is needed. Perhaps you could make a list of the things a Yorkie needs and slip it in her mail box. Let her know the dangers of a Yorkie living outside can bring. Wild animals, attack from another dog, maybe that will frighten her. She seems somehow in her own way to care for this dog since she won't take the money. Let her know your friend not foe and are willing to help her in the right direction to protect her pet. If nothing happens, steal the dog at night and give it to someone out of the area you know and trust. |
