You need to take pictures of her injury too, AND take her to the VEt ASAP. I worry about infection and the amount of pain your poor little Yorkie baby is feeling I am so sorry. This is heartbreaking. It would be very hard for me not to personally go over there and chew her "ear off" !

Nancy is right, you definately have to take him to the vet right away in order to build your case if you do decide to sue. In court, this would show that you went through all the right channels of making sure your yorkie is ok. Let us know what you decide to do, ok?

I think what happened is terrible, but I do not believe that a lawysuit is the solution to every bad thing that happens. Hurting your dog - and then not telling you - is horrible. But suing, in my opinion, is just as bad.

The best thing you can do is spread the word so that this particular groomer loses business. Write a letter to the editor, take out an ad, post notices at vet's offices, etc.

OMG, ok first of all they had to know they cut a chunk off because where did the chunck go???? I agree if they would have been honest from the start it would be different but they tried to keep it a secret. I don't know about a lawsuit but what about a better business bureau or something like that so thre is a legal record of it,

This happened to Cooper the VERY first time he was groomed. The groomer was very apologetic (near tears). She told me that she would pay for any vet bills. I felt horrible for her, because I know that accidents happen. I did take him to the vet and she said she could put a stitch in the cut, but the hair pretty much covers it.

That being said, the fact that your groomer did not tell you is ridiculous and I would be upset. They should definitely pay up for the vet bills. Hope Snickers is okay!

We are not talking about a a little snip or cut here. Snickers had a piece of his ear cut off. Then they tried to hide it. If this is the way they treat their customers I don't think that they should be in business. How many other incidents have they gotten away with? We were asked our opinions and this is mine. They should not be providing service if they are injuring their customers then trying to hide it. I'm pretty sure this must have been very painful for Snicker to have had a piece of his ear cut off. I can just hear him crying when it took place. I think having them to pay just the paying vet bills is not enough.

How horrible.....poor snickers! I am shocked that they did not tell you!! Did they just think you would not notice?! The incompetance of some people is what generates law suits...unfortunately "the law" probably won't have anything on the books for something like this b/c unless it's a show dog..( which can potentially earn income), they are only seen as pets in the eyes of the law...and not a family member as we see them!
They should pay for all your vet bills, car cleaning, clothes etc...at least! I wish you luck on this!

I realize your angry and it should not have happened, but sometimes Sh** happens.

Americans are sue happy and there are too many frivolous lawsuits in this country. Law suits don't undo the damage or bring back a life.

and for those who say "it's not the money." It's the money.

You got your money back they offered to pay the vet bill. they said they were sorry. Not much more they can do. Like I said sometimes Sh** happens and there is no one to blame.

Ya s**t does happen, but there are also consequences that come with it.

The fact is that they did not tell her about what happened. I am assuming that they held the poor dog there trying to make him stop bleeding --- because instead of taking 1 hr it took 3. They did not notify her when it happened, and then when she went back with blood all over her, they simply said it was a small cut!! There is a piece missing!!!

Look, it would have been a completely different story had they been upfront about it. The issue here is that they tried to hide it. And therefore, they should have to deal with the consequences - and that is bad publicity - whether its through a lawsuit, or the internet, it needs to happen.

What if it had been your child? Would you feel differently then??

So what is the damage done to the owner? No damage. No lawsuit.

Frivilous lawsuits costs the consumers billions of dollars each year. Businesses pass the expense on to the consumer.

I agree they should have been honest, but accidents happen and no amount of money is going to make the dog hurt any less. So who and what is the money for.

When you have a business, any business, there will be business related incidents, but not all of them warrant a lawsuit. They should have been honest, that is for sure. But they offered to pay the vet bill and they refunded her money. There is no lawsuit.

The problem with them not telling her is that further damage could have been done. How much blood can these guys lose before it can cause other harm. Yes accident happen, but people need to be honest. I agree sueing is not the answer as you will only get what they have already offered. However word of mouth can be deadly in that profession, being he was injured and they hid it...oh I would tell everybody!!! I would be diffrent if they were honest, but it says something about their character to not only not tell, but go ahead and let her pay and leave before they fessed up. I would be sick!

Bottom line is that they should not be in the dog grooming business!!!!

Was her dog not damaged???? Was his ear not cut??? Was he not bleeding??

So are you saying that we should wait until our dogs are crippled before making an issue.........

I would definately expect them to pay all vet bills.
If they refuse I would report them to the states attorney office and the BBB
Who knows who else they did this to? They dont have much integrity.
NOT telling you about the injury and letting you leave is negligence! If they made a mistake because maybe he was pulling or jerked..ok..fess up.
They should have called you right away and given you the option to call the vet.
What if you had not noticed until it was infected?
I heard of a story( i hope it is not true) cut the ear really bad, like almost off and super glued it back on. Of couse without blood flow the ear died and fell off.
Once Bella jerked and they cut a chuck of fur just to the left of her nose. It was so obvious... My groomer called me right away before she finished cutting her. She was so upset. I told her it was just hair and it would grow back. She was honest!!!
I am so sorry for your baby. I hope he has not suffered much.
