| ![]() No. I wouldn't. If I ever buy a dog, I would want it to be from someone with years of experience who also shows their dogs and has champion lines. |

| ![]() Maybe it would be good to just start small and do one litter to see how things go. Having a mentor is good, staring slow is good too. Many things can go wrong, you are young and have time to learn. If you start with one litter and just sell them for a nominal fee to friends or family who might want to support you in your venture. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. ![]() |

anyone could buy dogs with champion bloodlines in it but they can't take credit for it...there are a lot of puppy mills out there who would buy puppies with champion bloodlines to breed them to make an outrageous profit on them...

| ![]() I think it is great you have found your passion in life, I guess it would be worrisome at first glance because you are so young. The buyer should do their research and check your facilities, and if all is well your age wouldn't matter. Everyone keeps mentioning experience but how do you get experience without starting ??? I'm glad you found a mentor that you can learn from and will help you on your new venture. I myself hope one day to become a Exhibitor /breeder, not for the money but the pure joy of having beautiful dogs. I wish you the best of luck, and hope you do all the research you can and work closely with your mentor because after all it's the best interest of your dog, and the breed that should come first. I hope you continue posting, and coming back to yorkie talk for advice I know it can be intimidating at times but there are plenty of people here who are very knowledgeable.

| ![]() I think it's great that you're doing research, but just be aware how expensive it can be to get started. |

| ![]() Have you ever been to a dog show or studied conformation? Will you show any of your dogs or have them evaluated by knowledgable show exhibitors or judges? I would never buy from someone that doesnt have years of experience or does not show or does not breed for improvements or breed to the standard. Personally, it has been my experience that a 2 lb dog doesnt have the correct conformation nor will he be able to pass any positive attributes on to a litter.(unless, of course, you are only breeding for tinies) |

May I ask what titles are in their pedigrees?

| ![]() I do not think a contract is valid if you are 17. At least, on many of the court shows, particularly small claims, contracts with minors are null and void. It is illegal to enter a contract with a minor. And I am sure you would offer a contract to prospective buyers. I agree with the previous posts about working with a mentor first to get experience breeding. Personally, I look for lots of experience when looking at a breeder. Pam |

I definitely agree all these people who have "years of experience" din't have years of experience when they first started and I totally agree with everyone who says the would'nt buy from breeders without years of experience but I feel like everyone should be given a chance as that breeder who is "just starting out" may be one of the best yorkies breeders in the world in the future ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | |
