| Not sure whether you want to hear this or not but I believe in ghosts and I also believe that animals can see them. If it happens again, open your door and tell the ghost that they have to leave because you aren't ready for them to be in your house. The ghost should leave because they are no longer welcome in the house.

| Duke does the same thing. He will start barking and growling out of no where and when I look around to see if something happened or if something made a noise I wont find anything.

| This was before I had dogs but we once rented a house and I'd swear I could hear children laughing periodically. however my kids would be asleep napping. Also sometimes I thought I'd catch a little blond head go by, we're brunette. Sorry to go off topic. I agree with others though. I think dogs have a sixth sense about things. We live in apartments and Alphy will bark but that's because he'll hear people out on the stairs before I do, so I think he hears people moving around in their own home and gets defensive.

| ok...look here...now don't be saying that kinda stuff!!! LOL! Little Man does that when we go to bed at night before hubby gets home. He will go to the end of the bed and I mean every little hair on his body stands up. He will growl (not the playful growl either) and he will bark and he won't move at all. I'll get up and go look and he follows growling and barking. When we get back to the bedroom, he literally gets in my lap (if I'm sitting up) or he will sit right in front of me (if I am laying down) and growl. It's like he's protecting from something or someone. It's kinda freaky! I also believe in the paranormal stuff.

| I'm kind of on the fence about the paranormal but don't forget that doggies' hearing is about a hundred times better than ours. They could be hearing rats or mice. My dixie dog will go ballistic if she hears a hedgehog outside and I can't hear a thing! If they hear something like a mouse in the ceiling, they might not know what it is (if they haven't seen one before) that might explain the defensive behaviour.

| Bella does the same thing not every night but once in awhile when my grandpa was passing away we stayed at his house. I stayed in the family room (pull out couch) well my grandma would always watch her soaps in there and sit on coach she passed away when I was 7. Well every night before we would go to bed bella would look at the same area in the room and wag her tail and get down like someone was petting her. My grandma loved dogs so I really believe that it was her. After my grandpa passed away bella acted really sad right when it happened I think she knew he was gone. After I got back home I was sleeping and I had a dream that my grandpa was telling me he was ok and he was with my grandma and I woke up crying. Well when I looked up there was bella at the edge of the bed and it literally looked like some was playing and petting her she wasn't scared and neither was I. It may sound crazy but I have had many paranormal experiences since I was young shortly after my grandma passed away. I really believe in it and I think dogs are especially in tune to those types of things.

| This is a funny thread!! BUT I also believe in spirits.. But keep in mind MOST of the spirits that we would expect to have in our homes would simply be there because its a familar place, or they left something undone or unsaid.. They rarely mean any harm.. I think it would be wonderful to be able to speak to them.. |

| ok had to give an update lol. after i posted last nite, my b/f went to the kitchen/dining room area where it happened. he's not the type to get scared n he will just brush it off like nuttin. well for some reason wen he went in the room he yelled, "woahhh this is creepy" n he came back into my room n had goosebumps allllllllllllll over his arms it was about 2 am now. my lil sister went into my room n went into bed w me. sucked for abby cuz she had to go back to her bed which thank god she doesn't mind. well about ten min later, abby gets up sticks her neck out n stares at the door barking n growling againnnnnn. ok i was more than creeped now cuz there was no noise from anywhere. i turned on the light and tried going back to sleep. it was hard but i managed n now im fallin asleep at work |
