| Jamie does this too every once in a blue moon. While I would love to brush it off as him hearing a noise I didn't hear, he is very DEFINITELY looking at something! It scares me to death. I think the reason that is scares me so bad is that Jamie LOVES people... all people. And he never growls. I can't help but think that whatever he seeing is not good! Hopefully now that we've moved to a new house he'll stop doing it. LOL!

| Maybe it's something he smells. My Sampson can smell a skunk miles away. He'll start going nuts, barking and wanting outside. And maybe minutes later, I finally smell the skunk.

| I would love to attribute this type of thing to outside noises etc but when all 4 of my dogs stop what they are doing and stare at the same spot it makes me wonder. This topic has been brought up many many times and it never gets old to me. I think the spirit of a collie we used to own visits our house regularly. I won't go into it since I have talked about it in previous threads but I do believe in the supernatural. I also believe that we may someday have scientific evidence that confirms or disproves it. I can't wait for that day. Over all I would say not to worry about it at all. None of us know anyone who has been harmed by a ghost do we? I don't think the CAN harm us. I have often wondered if that isn't perhaps Purgatory....They can see us but we can't see them? Just a thought. |

| I believe in spirits too .... it is creepy that your Furbaby starts barking and growling ... and deep down YOU KNOW why the is doing it ....Don"t want to creep you out but I agree with the Ladies on here ... dogs are special little creatures and if they sense something they go off ....

| Like I said in my previous post, just ask the spirit to leave. It really is that simple. They don't usually hang around when they aren't invited. So, the next time you baby is growling, just say, " Please leave, you aren't welcome here." See if it works, because I can almost guarantee it will, iunless it is an poltergist. Then it's a bigger problem but it doesn't sound like it is. Good luck!

| Interesting, interesting post. Note to OP----do you know how hard it is for us old-timers to read texting (or texing, however you spell it) shortcuts? Have to re-read everything. Goodness, it's hard to get old and getting left behind where technology is concerned. Yes, yes, I know a lot of you know I complain about this a lot.

| My brother's ashes were in one the rooms of our house and my Harlee would just go in there and sit just in side the room at the entrance...She wold go to the door so I would open it so she could go in...Now , a year later, and his ashes scattered at a lake, she doesn't care to go in the room...He had a head injury and she would lay on his head when he slept, so I know they had a bond...I felt comfort in her visits....(and I don't like ghost stories, but I felt it was my brother waiting to get put to rest)

| Have you noticed if her growling in usually around the same time every time she does it? I noticed in your update your mentioned something about 2 a.m. Between 2 and 3 a.m. is typically an active time for spirits. My recommindation on what to do is this. When your yorkie is doing this,it is an indication that she is sensing a spirit. (If indeed this is what it is,and I feel pretty sure it may be) When she picks up on this, say aloud "You have passed over. Please go to the Light." Then ask your angels/spirit guides to protect you and yours and help the spirit that your yorkie is sensing cross into the Light. Also ask that you and yours be surrounded in White Light. Some people that pass do not realize that they have passed or feel they need to hang around for whatever reason. Sending them into the Light usually takes care of this. If you have any questions, I'll try to help. Wishing you the best. Please keep us updated.

| Callie barks at nothing (seemingly) as well. I wonder if there's sounds that she hears that I don't hear (like rain, wind, birds, etc.) or if it's ghosts or something else. Kinda freaked me out at first, but now I just try to distract her from whatever she's barking at.

| I personally believe in ghosts (I think "spirits" sounds nicer ) and have had my own personal experience. Before you allow any fear to completely take over, try to figure out if you think this spirit means you any harm. I think that most spirits just need to be told to move on. If this could be the spirit of the family member who just passed, ask yourself why he/she would be paying you a visit. Maybe he/she is concerned about you and needs to be told that you will be fine. My nana passed away in 1996 and opened my fridge door a week later while I was crying for her on the couch in the middle of the night. It scared the holy-moly outta me and I didnt know any better then to tell her to cross over. I dont feel her with me anymore, and I assume that she found her way. My point is that whatever your dog is barking at...it may not be a bad thing. |
