| Mochi Finally Hit 3 Pounds! Yay! After waiting for 5 months (now she is 9 months old), Mochi finally weighs 3 lbs. I am so happy! Hopefully she will make it to 4 lbs.

She used to be a picky eater, and she skipped meals all the time! After trying many brands of kibbles, I finally switched to homecooking. She loves it so much that she eats each and every meal. She did not know what treats are when I first took her home, probably she had not been fed any treats before. It took her a month to like treats. Now she will come running when she hears the treat bag opening.

I think stopping all treats is a good move. How old is your baby? I heard that by putting down the food for a certain period of time, if they don't eat, pick up the food bowl, do not offer again until the next meal time. Eventually they will learn to eat. Did you try soaking the kibbles into a bit of hot water before serving? The aroma might increase their appetite. Sometimes due to teething (sore gums, etc), they might want softer food. For my another boy, Kimchee, I mix Merrick canned food with his kibbles. He eats everything in one shot.

I have tried the putting food down for a period of time then taking it up ... that didn't work. I have mixed soft with kibble he will eat once and then that is the end of that deal.. I have tried canidae, merricks, trippe, wellness, ceasar (I know I know... bad food) canned salmon, cottage cheese, pumpkin, raw chicken necks, cooked chicken, cooked steak, you name it I have tried it.. he will munch on it probably 1 to 2 weeks if I am lucky.. most times it is a one time deal.. then we are back to square 1 starting all over again.. talk about consfusing here...lol

| awww that's good to hear!! I remember when it took Jake forever to hit 3 lbs., and I was so excited lol. He ended up being 4 1/2 lbs. He had a growing spurt right before he turned a year. Mocha is beautiful, I just love her coloring!

If I were you, I would also worried about him. He is so young and he is just 2 lbs. This is the exact situation I had with Mochi, same age same weight. I hope this is just a baby thing; they always want to try to see how far they can go. I heard that if you always change his food, he will become even more picky. So I think what you have to do is keep one kind of food, stay away from treats, and keep NutriCal or Nutri Drop at all times. If he skips one meal, give him some of these to keep him going. Another thing is take him to the vet and see if there are any underlining problems going on. Discuss with your vet and see if he/she has any suggestions.
