| What are the measurements? If you go on the website for the airline it will tell you the dimension specifications for a pet carrier. It should also have plenty of ventilation.

| Well this is what AA's website says: "Pet Carrier Guidelines The maximum size for cabin pet carriers is 23" long x 13" wide x 9" high. Animals must be able to stand up, turn around and lie down in a natural position in the kennel. Soft-sided pet carriers are accepted as long as they are constructed of water-repellent, padded nylon with mesh ventilation on two or more sides." My carrier is 15¼" x 11¾" x 9" so it is fine there. It also has mesh ventilation on both sides. But the part I am confused about it the padded nylon part...I know the outside of my carrier is cloth and the inside is laminated...but I just want to be 100% sure before I take her in it...don't want to run into any problems. Has anyone actually taken their dog on a flight in this carrier??

| I heard the Sherpa is the only airline approved bag because it's ventilated and protected. That is what I brought Keoki back from the breeders in via airline and whenever we take trains, etc for travel I put him in that- he loves it!!!! |

| Thanks for the help. I have never flown with an animal before so I don't really know what to expect...I think it will be fine too, I just had no idea how strict they are bc it seems like they are soooo strict about EVERYTHING in airports.

I also have a hard sided crate I KNOW is airline approved bc it says right on the side of it. But I would much rather take a bag bc it would be so much easier to carry.

| A friend told me that so I am not 100 percent sure and on the tag it says " the only airline approved bag" - you are right about Jessica Simpson ( lol) and I know hard sided crates are allowed. Honestly I don't think it is that big of a deal with the bag- I flew Continental and they didn't even say anything just wanted to see proof that I paid for him- didn't even ask for the health certificate. I would recommend calling the airlines. |

| they also have to have zippers in the top or side so the dog cannot escape. I have flown my babies all over on almost every airline with the one from Walmart. 15.99. Also it is not a good idea to take the hard on in the cabin. You really will do much better with a soft sided one. That can be squished in or down if need be. And yeah, I cannot imagine take the hard one, it is pretty big and hard to carry. I know it would not fit under the seat so I don't know where I would put her.

| Double-check your Vera Bradley carrier. I fly with Gracie all the time and put her in a Sherpa. I have 2 Vera Bradley carriers and they are too high to fit under the seats in A320's, 737's, and MD80's--maybe more but those are the planes I've flown with her on. I measured my Vera Bradley and it stands 10.5 inches high and DEFINITELY is too tall to go under the seat. I learned the hard way the first time I flew with her. |
