Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() Quote:
![]() she needs to NOT hit them for something like this - it only instills fear & it's her fault all the way cause they weren't on a leash - TALK TO HER - tell her how you feel and about her hitting them and say her dogs HAVE TO BE ON A LEASH or you'll be forced to report it. You can stay friends as long as she gets responsible. It sounds like she felt terrible and she should - it was her fault...but things can be resolved if she does her part and quits letting them run free. That's what happened to the girls and I while we were on our walk - a pitt OFF LEASH charged us (I grabbed the girls and held them under my chin) & while I wasn't scared - I was waiting for a chuck of my body to be removed by very sharp teeth - but no way was that dog getting my girls | |

She's my age, like 22. She is young and probably has a lot of other things going on. Most people my age (who are in college) they get dogs and then they do not have the proper amount of time to spend with them and train them. I don't want Abbey to fear these dogs...it's extra hard bc she has been living there for a couple of years and I recently moved in and all these people have always taken their dogs out with no leash (not just her). So I'm like the new kid on the block with the tiny dog that is demanding leashes when these dogs have not been on leashes for a very long time. But it IS necessary bc even before I had Abbey the dogs would run and jump on ME, which I did not really appreciate. A lot of people are telling me to complain to management or call animal control, but I feel if I just sit her down, and kindly talk to her, she is more likely to understand and follow through with keeping them on leashes. If I run and tell management she will know it was me and most likely resent me and be less likely to restrain her dogs. Not to mention, she is still my neighbor and before getting outside people involved I would like to try and civily work it out with her one on one. Thanks for the advice though... ![]()

I also hate my management and the way they handle things. They most likely would not be concerned for my dog but more concerned with collecting money...they are money hungry. For this reason, I am choosing to keep it between me and her, bc she is more likely to listen to me if I am calm with her. She knows I have the power to get her lots of fines, soooo chances are she won't mess up again and will keep them on leashes.

| ![]() I am sure the girl was not as upset with her dogs as she was with HERSELF and was just taking it out on the dog. Because it was HER fault not the dog's. This is the very reason I use a harness and a 6 foot leash. I can have Bella reeled in close to me and pick her up without even bending over. A 6 foot leash not one that extends out allows for better control. Maybe if you try it you wont have to avoid other dogs all the time, just the bigger ones. So sorry you are having these problems ![]() |

| ![]() This young lady is not being responsible, she must learn to be a pack leader. The next incident might be a child, for the children and other dogs safety she and her dogs need professional help. TAKE THEM TO SCHOOL!!!!--the next time something happens the incident may be so tragic [ it might not be your dog, but some little kid ] that these dogs might be put down! Tell her they will be happier [if they are trained]and everyone else will be too. She will have to find the time and money----if she wants to be a good neighbor, person, owner and pack leader. --D.W. ![]() |

| ![]() I am so glad to hear Abbey is Ok I was so worried reading this post. ![]() I live in a condo complex as well and it is scary as we have other dogs who live there and some are on leashes some are not. Another annoying thing is all sharing a lawn and how other owners let their dogs poop all over the lawn and everyone gets asked not to bring their dogs out anymore because people don't pick up after themselves!! But honestly this post has opened my eyes because even though the other dogs seem harmless they can do damage merely because of the size difference. abbey gets extra treats and kisses tonight ![]()

| ![]() Thankfully Abbey is fine, this the reason Lottie barks at every dog she meets. ![]() ![]() It has also made Alfie very protective of her ![]() I hope that Abbey will get over this and you too but it is difficult not to worry about them.

But you can never be too careful. When I was younger, I had a yorkie named Tasha who was very tiny. She lived with our BIG sheep dog, Jazz for years. And Jazz was always very kind and gentle with her and the sweetest dog you will ever meet. Even when Tasha would get in her face. Well, one night we came home and found Tasha bloody on the back porch. Jazz had bit her and she was dead. This is a trajic story, but it shows how the kindest of dogs can turn on a little one. And how fragile our little ones are that one snip can kill them...
