| Bad hair cuts I took him to pet smart to have his nails clipped , teeth brushed , ear hair removed and a clean cut. I asked her to just trim a little around the eyes and she shaved his face . lol Poor baby She shaved it from his nose to his eyes. Is this a choice for many? He just doesnt look the same.

| I don't think it is the cut of choice for most people. Some groomers just don't know what they are doing.

| I had that happen once....I was not happy about it...You have to be VERY specific in telling them not only what to cut, but what NOT to cut......

| From what I see... Most that do the Petsmart/Petco grooming, almost always have a bad experiences. I think the reason is because most of the groomers that I've seen in both places, look rather young and in-experienced. They are easier to pay & dont mind being part time...imo. And on the other hand, you have those that just dont care... If you do a search, you'll be able to find many stories like yours I always recommend people to find a "private groomer", because I think Petsmart is too commercial. Plus, you dont have to leave your dog for 3 hrs to all day My groomer only takes 1 1/2 hr to do Meka, so I never understand why they take so long... Not to mention, if they've got that long of a wait, because they have so many dog to groom; how can one trust that they are even giving their dog the right attention Next time, try having a picture of the cut you have in mind. That will help the groomer get an exact idea of what you want. Or, even finding out how much experience that person has is helpful...

My little Shadow Donating YT Member | I recently visited a Petsmart while in another town with my daughter. I wanted to watch the cute doggies getting groomed & I kid you not, Every dog that came out from being groomed was shaved. The whole body. I couldn't believe it! I know I saw at least 5 leave and no hair left.

| seems like i lucked out bc I took my pup, Bindi to Petsmart and got the puppy package. Perhaps it varies from store to store and most suck. lol because they told me that it would be just an hour to 1.5 hours. She came out looking fantabulous! I was quite clear however on how i wanted her cut (which wasnt very difficult). I waited/watched most of the time. but i agree that most seem to have bad experiences. |

| I took Daisy into Petco on Xmas Eve for a trim. Thank goodness YT members gave me the info to be specific on what I wanted. After I explained to the groomer that I only want about an inch taken off of her full coat, etc (I even brought pics of what I wanted) the groomer told me that they do not do scissor cuts and that they would use clippers to trim her which would leave her with about 2" of hair length. So I took my Daisy and left. They never mentioned this when I called to make an appointment for a cut for her so I wonder how many people are surprised when they arrive to pick up their pup. I noticed as well that most of the dogs were shaved or in the process of being shaved.

| I had a horrific experience at Petco- they shaved Lexie BALD when she was only a few months old and in winter (we live in Ohio- brrrrr...) I was livid- I complained to the manager and got a refund (big whoop!) and they gave me a few sweaters for her. Now on the flip side... my friend highly recommended this groomer at PetSmart (yes- I was very skeptical- since I had such a bad experience) that was over 2 yrs ago and I have been going to her ever since! She does a GREAT job with Lexie and does EXACTLY what I want. It is VERY important to TALK- COMMUNICATE and let them know (especially a groomer that you are going to for the 1st time) exactly how you want your dog clipped. I also made it VERY clear under NO circumstances do I EVER want her shaved (and I shared my story) I have never had a bit of trouble and Lexie is always cut the way I want. There are some decent groomers at Petsmart. Good luck!!

I got NO phone call I was so mad... Then The LAST time I Tried.. I got All the way over there to have some little kid yelling at me" lemme hold the puppy!!!!!" while I try to talk to the lady and she was like all i can do today is give her a barh... I was pissed!! ( sorry for the word) But After lookin and alot of phone calls.. I found a wonderful groomer the guy was so sweet when I brought Mi and Koda in he let me fill out all our paper work and he sat on the floor and played with Mi and Koda... They do hot oil treatments and everything.. koda looks like a hansome little man and Mi looks like a little angel.. I am VERY Happy with them... And What they say is true .. you get what you pay for |

| does anyone do the grooming themselves? I am trying and just wanted to know if there are any good books or info out there to help me. I took duncan to a private groomer and when I went back 1 and a half hours later she had done next to nothing. She said he was too small and couldn't hold onto him. He can squirm for nails that is for sure. Thought I would try. Trimming he is good for me with scissors, not dog shavers as soon as it is turned on he freaks. Any ideas and how to know how to shape legs and head??
