| New Unexpected Addition to Family! Help! Today when I was taking my three other dogs to the groomer, I didn't expect to fall in love with a picture of a yorkie puppy on the wall of my groomer's business. I figured it was a sign because he was so adorable and his name is BJ. I asked my groomer who was he and she told me he was for sale and then I was given the number of the woman who was selling him. I called and within thirty minutes I was in front of the woman's door. I was still a wrecking heap of depression because my daughter had died from SIDS the previous year, so I didn't want to get too attached, I just wanted to look at the little guy and leave. Well that didn't happen! The moment I saw him scurry out to meet me, I knew I was in love! And within another thirty minutes I was out the door with the little guy in my arms! It is a miracle but anyways, the real reason why I created this thread was because his breeder potty trained him on a puppy pad and all of my dogs go outside to use the bathroom. He is three months old and I really need help in how to get him to use the bathroom outside! I have never had a dog as young as he is and I am kind of scared of what to do! Please help YT!

| Congratulations on your new furbaby! I would slowly (every few days or a week) move the potty pad towards the door that you take the pups out to go potty. I did that with Maya. I also put a poochie bell at the door and taught her how to ring the bell when she has to go potty. Good luck!

| Congratulations on your new pup. Did you really expect to leave that house without that puppy tucked under your arm I would tale the potty pad outdoors when you take the other's out to potty. Pups learn from each other. When the new pup sees the other's going outdoor's I'm sure he'll catch on fast. Don't forget a treat when he does. Good luck, I'm terribly sorry for your loss. |

| Congratulations on your new furkid!! Pee pads are great, especially when the weather is bad outside. It's a good thing. He'll probably learn the outside potty bit from your other furkids! |

| Congratulations! pictures please! My male housebroke my female. I just let him out in the yard more often and took her with us. She got the idea in no time at all and now she is 2 and still waits for him to give the signals to go out.

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Yep, monkey see, monkey do. Just take him out often and alone with the ones you already have and he should catch on pretty quick. I think it's definitely easier when you've got older "siblings" to show them the ropes. He's still pretty young though, so I'd keep the pads down for a while as well. Congratulations and good luck!

| Congratulations.. I think it's fantastic when the breeder teaches them to use pee pads, as a lot of people work, and aren't able to go home and let the dog out to go to the bathroom. I feel it's much easier to train them to go outside after they're used to pee pads, rather than the other way around...I ended up rehoming a beautiful beiwer that I got at 5 1/2 mos. that I couldn't train to use the pee pad...as someone else mentioned, start moving the pee pad closer to the door, or just get him in the habit of going out with the other dogs.. |

| Thank you guys for all your help! He is using the bathroom outside now surprisingly after he watched the other dogs go outside and I took him outside a few times an hour.
