My Little Man! Donating Member | Maxi did it again! Maxi has this love to my palm tree which is in the living room (2nd floor, I have 3 levels in my house). He loves to dig all the dirt out. He did that one time when he was a little younger and I firmely said no and said you are a bad boy lol he went on his bed right away knowing he did something wrong. You know you cant be mad at them for too long So he has been good after that incident until now! He hasnt touched it in 5 months and now there we go again! He gets on the pot which is almost his size and I dont know how he reaches the dirt with his paws He is really not a trouble maker because he never chewed any of my stuff including wires, stairs or my socks etc when he was a puppy and I thought I was blessed lol He didnt even pay attention to the palm tree until the 1st incident happened. The little sneaky butt did it while I was sleeping and my boyfriend was on the computer on the first floor thinking that Maxi is taking a knap. Ugh I dont really want to move my plant cause its in the perfect spot but I dont think I have a choice Does any of your babies like to dig plants?

| I wouldn't move the plant, but I would correct this behavior instead. Did you recently add any fresh potting soil or a different fertelizer? My new girl Raziel never had a interest in dirt until we put some top soil down over grass seed in a couple small spots. She was so bad at eating it that we finally had to fence them in till the grass grew and covered it. We have an area in the corner of the fence that is also shaded by the neighbors tree and gets no sun, so it's just small area of dirt, but she doesn't even bother with it. This is why we think there is something in the top soil that she smelled. |

My Little Man! Donating Member | Ha ha Murfee is so cute! Maxi loves to dig on the beach he does that for hours. I heard if you have a digger on your hands you have to allow them to dig certain areas. He is allowed to dig his bed, sand on the beach, and dig outside I never thought my palm tree will be his victim lol

| My kitty used to do this to a tree that I had. Go to your local hardware store and ask for hardware cloth. It's 1/2" wire mesh. Measure the inner diameter of the pot and cut a circle out of the hardware cloth to fit. Cut a straight line from the outside of the circle to the middle and cut another circle a little bigger than the diameter of the trunk of your tree. You might have to twist & wiggle it a little to get it in the post, but it will keep your baby from digging and you can water through the mesh. It worked for us! |
