Thanks so much for your input everyone! I think I am probably going to go with Quincy, I had no idea Max was so common! I just thought it was funny because when my mom was pregnant with me she wanted to name me Max if I was a boy, and my grandmother (dad's mom) just totally shot her down and was like "That's a DOG's name!". So I thought it would be a good joke, but I have always liked the name Quincy for a pet.
I can already tell he is going to be a very sweet little boy, he wants to cuddle with me 24/7!

He is a little over 6 weeks old. The breeder said I could keep him there longer if I wanted but I couldn't wait to bring him home I was so excited! My neighbors just got a really adorable bulldog puppy and he was 6 weeks so I figured it would be okay.
Anyways he seems fine, he plays with me and he follows me around if I try to leave the room, he seems very attached already. And he's eating okay and everything. He cried the first night I brought him home so I put a little radio in his room with music on during the night and he hasn't cried at night since, he is so good!

My Hannah is a silky and she only weighs 5 pounds and is 2 years old. Now that I've had a silky, I can tell the difference, but before I had one, I also thought silky was referring to the kind of coat they had. Honestly the only person who knew she was a silky terrier and not a yorkie is her groomer and the lady who owns the daycare she goes to. Otherwise, she's just referred to as a yorkie.

Congratulations on your new addition. I too favor Quincy for a name.

Hannah, better known to me as little fart is not a silky and I have to say unless you can explain why you would think that, I am very offended. I have never even seen one inperson. yes, she is silky coated but it is very plain that she is not a silky. whoever told you that she is. Your groomer and the day care people are dead wrong. She looks nothing like any pictures I have ever seen. Please send me your groomer and day care operators name. My reputation is on the linee here andd I might have legal recourse. I raised this dog. Silkies are much larger, have larger and longer snouts, larger ears and a very low tailset. Their hair also does not grow as long and flowing as a yorkies.

We will DNA this dog and prove that she is not a silky if necessary. But anyone that knows silkies can tell by looking at her, she is not a silky. Silky coated yes, silky breed, no.

He's darling. I had a friend who got a silky rather than a Yorkie because the silky is suppose to be easier to train. I have no idea if that's true but hers was a great dog and easy to train. He was about 10 lbs.

Well I don't know why she said that if Hannah is not a silkie, but that was a little bit harsh don't you think? The silkies I have seen in person I would have never known they were not yorkies if I didn't see the papers, yes there might be a slight difference in the length of their nose and body but why would you say you don't like them and then say that you haven't even seen one in person? I just got one and he is very sweet, I think you're being a little bit unfair and people who have silkies might be offended.

A Silky is a 10 lb dog of substantial body for strength but with fine bone for agility. They have a 'wedge' shape to the head (longer muzzle and flatter skull) with ears that stand erect on top of the head. They are a bit longer in body than tall at the shoulders. They are well muscled and extremely alert. Ready to please but with a stubborn streak if forced rather than 'ask' to perform a task. The Silky coat is just that "Silky". It can be any shade of blue from a light steel blue, to pidgeon blue to a darker slate blue and many varing shades in between. The tans should be rich and vibrant. NO BOWS PLEASE A Silky is truly a BIG DOG in a small dog suit!! They love to run and play outdoors, chase the squirrels and keep all those big dogs at bay! You can carry one around but they would much prefer to walk, thank you!

A Yorkie is a dog of approximate weight of 4 -5 lbs, (not over 7 lbs.). The head is shorter in muzzle and is more dome shaped. The ears are erect but may tend to flare to the side a bit. They usually have a larger base than a Silky ear. The Yorkie is a square dog meaning that it is no longer than it is tall at shoulder giving a 'box' appearance. A Yorkie is only suppose to be a 'slate' color of blue and the coat is usually heavier and floor length (when kept in show condition). A Yorkie is more of a toy dog than a Silky in that they readily become a lap dog. And love to be pampered and waited on.

My groomer also said she felt chachi was a silky instead of a yorkie when know he is all yorkie. Her reasoning was because he was so much larger than Jewels which he is 5 lbs larger. He and Jewels have the same dad but different moms. Groomers and day care providers arent experts in the breed standards

Personally, I'm going to guess that Hannahs mom just meant that her yorkie has a silkie coat and didn't get it, or that she has been misinformed by someone. I hope that this works out for all involved, and that if there is a problem between these two that it is dealt with on another thread, so that yours can stay as a wonderful reminder of your first days with your new furkid.

I said that beecause I sold Barbara this dog and I know she is not a silky and I only breed yorkies. I apologize to you and anyone else that might have a silky. As a pretty well know YORKIE breeder with many, many people on here having my babies, can you imagine the mess it would be if people thought they had purchased silkys from me when they paid me for and got the papers for a full blooded yorkie. I just talked with Hannah's mom (the lady I sold her to) and it was all aa huge misunderstanding. I told her she was silky,(Not a silky) thinking everyone knew I had silky coated yorkies and that was what I was talking about. Again, I apologize. And your congratulations on your new baby.

I have just talked to Hannah's momma and it is straightened out. hannah's mom was misinformed. You are right, I meant to offend no one. BTW, for all those that have kept up with my breeding program, Hannah is my Little Fart, that I used to post pictures of all the time. Again, I apologize to all the silky owners.
