| Don't Let Your Dog Hang Out The Window When You Are Driving!! My sister was driving this morning and saw a lady with her little bishon dog hanging out the passenger side window. The lady made a left hand turn and the poor little dog fell out of the window and the lady's back tire hit the dog! My sister saw the dog swing all around like a rag doll. Well, the lady got out of the car and called to her dog. That dog must have had an adrenalin rush going because it got up and came to the lady when she called it. My sister turned her car around to ask if the dog was ok and the lady was doing the sign of the cross and shook her head up and down to say yes. She wouldn't roll the window down in her car and she drove away. My sister wanted to tell her that the lady's back tire actually hit her dog! I hope that she took her little one in to the vet to get checked out. Please.....Don't let your dog hang out the window while you are driving. Keep your pet safe!

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | many dogs fall out of windows or off the back of pick ups. Its really not safe for them even if they are seat belted in. Things can fly into their eyes or the wind can give them ear infections.

| I hate when I see dogs loose in the back of pickup trucks..it is so ignorant. Those dogs could easily jump or fall out. I never drive with my windows down but if I did, I sure wouldn't have them so low that my dog could get out

| OH MY, it's a miracle she got up from that! I also hope she rushed her to the vet to check for internal injuries. My Ziggy loves to sit on my lap while I'm driving...BUT NO MORE! I read how the air bag can crush a dog if you're in an accident. Also read about a rock was thrown up from a tire and a dog's eye was put out...not sure if he lived. He had been hanging his head out the window. I now have safety seat belts for both of my boys. Ziggy is not happy but it's for the best. Lol, Beau will have to grow a bit so it's the carrier for him for awhile.

| Well, that is true about the air bags can definitely harm our pets, but I have to say an air bag saved Katie's life. We were in a pretty bad wreck. I used to let Katie ride on my arm in front of my chest. We were coming home from a vet visit. Upon impact, I felt Katie leave my chest. Then the air bag blew up. She was thrown back into my chest where I was able to catch her and held on for dear life. You know how things can seem like slow motion. After my DH got to the scene and the cops were done, Katie was taken back to the vet and she checked out just fine. I, on the other hand, had cracked ribs. She now has a console seat and is strapped in. I shudder to think what COULD have happened!

Donating YT 11K Club Member | That's scary! I never let mine look out the window, the girls can't even reach the window! But even if they could it's always closed or slighty open for air but not that they could fit.

I did see someone yesterday though with a terrier like dog...I wasn't sure exactly what it was...not a really tiny dog, but not a big dog either...driving with the dog on his lap and the window down and the dog was half out the window. I just thought, "oh gosh...he's just asking for trouble"......what can you do? Some people just never think anything will happen to THEM.
