| Do yorkies bark all the time?? We are strongly considering a Yorkie to add to our family. My neighbor has 2 dogs, a peek-poo and malti-poo. She was telling my husband that Yorkie's bark ALL the time He is a shift work and he sleeps during the day 8 days of the month. Could you give me more information on this. We really have our hearts set on a Yorkie. |

| Mine doesn't. He barks when someone rings the doorbell or knocks on the door until I open it. And he'll 'woof' at us if he wants to get our attention (like to play with him), but that's only for a second. And I had the same misconception about Yorkies before I got one....IMO, Maltese are far yappier than Yorkies.

| Ditto here, Lexie only barks when I'm not paying attention to her and she wants to play. She'll only bark for a few seconds before she goes back to doing her own thing. We have a golden retriever and she sure makes a lot more noise than my yorkie |

| Georgie barks when someone comes in but only until we say NO BARK. He just wants to make sure they can see him he is so little. We have a Boxer who barks when people come in too. That's their way of talking to us You can train them not to bark too much. Yorkies are AWESOME I love Georgie beyond words and can deal with him barking occasionally

| Mine bark when someone comes to the door or sometimes when they see something or someone out side. They never bark when we are sleeping because they are usually sleeping with us

| miss buffey never makes a peep unless she is playing by herself ... she likes to hide under a blanket and make funny barking sounds as she resurfaces bentley chatters nonstop but not really barking sounds...more like little whine/yips/grunts/etc lol .. it is not loud but it can get annoying lol

| Any dog can be trained not to bark. Buddy barks, after training, when he needs to, someone outside, knocking on the door, when the phone rings otherwise he's quite. |

Therapy Dog Donating Member | Izzy only barks at the cats when she wants them to play or at us when she wants us to play with her. She'll bark when the doorbell rings but that's it. She doesn't bark all day if that's what you mean. Plus their bark (well at least I think) is so cute and not that loud like a Sheep dog.

| Some yorkies bark incessantly. Some don't. Mine seldom barks. I suppose you never know what you're getting until you get it and I would think that would apply to all dogs not just yorkies. Early socialization should help eliminate excessive barking, but I couldn't say that would always be the case. I doubt that anyone could say that with any conviction. Some yorkies are very hyper and some are laid back. Just like people.

| Gracie does a little "woof" it is not a bark. She is 8 months old and we heard her first real bark last night it was different. She usually just peeks over the back of the couch. When she knows who it is then she "woofs".

| I've discouraged Lucy from barking since I brought her home (especially "attention" barking) and she is great. She will bark when someone comes to the door. We tell her "good girl, now that's enough" and she stops...

| Do yorkies bark all the time Not Tricksie, have had so many comments on her not being a barker. When she does, something is wrong are someone is at the door. She does the cute softly "woof, woof" too.
