I am still in disbelief that it happen to us, but it just shows me that you have to be very very careful with these precious babies. I was at the jeep putting my bags and purse in the back, and still had Lex in my arms and just shut the door and was going to open the front door to put her in her car seat, my hand was on the handle when someone grab my shoulder and said "give me your dog" I jerked back thinking if I keep Lex between me and the jeep he couldn't get her, and for some reason in my head I get thinking if he gets her I will never see her again, so I kick him from behind, don't know what I hit, but I kick as hard as I could then he push me into the jeep and I hit the car and lost my balance and a lady saw what was happening and started screaming and the guy ran. I never really saw what he looked like, but we did call the police and hopefully they will catch him. the girl said she saw him in the store and the police was going to get her to look at video to id him. Long story short, we are doing fine, but hang on to your babies. just watch what is going on around you, yesterday I said I would never take my yorkies with me again, but today I will, I will not let one crazy person put me in fear, I will watch more closely what is going on around me, and take max my GSD with me

Max adores Lex and would hurt anyone trying to mess with her or me, but even if I don't take him, I will be watching everyone very closely. just something that I will do from now on, put a leash and harness on her at all times out, I always hold her, but that way I will have something to hold on to her tightly, the overhauls really did save her.

Thank goodness you are both ok and he didn't get Lexie, either. How awful! This is a good reminder for all of us to be aware of your surroundings and to look around before you exit your vehicle, as you walk toward a store, as you exit a store and to look around your vehicle before you approach it. What a sad state this is for decent people who go out shopping!

Oh Kim just now seeing this and so glad to hear that you and precious Lexie are OK. You were quick thinking, girl...and I would have done the same thing..cause you know if they get our babies most times you will never see them again....call me crazy but I would fight to the end to protect my Izzy.

OMG I hope she is ok and I know she must be shaken up. I hope Petsmart has video of this man and maybe she can press charges if he hangs around there. It is so sad you have to be so careful where you want to take YOUR OWN dog to.

Wow kim we are so blessed that you and your precious baby are safe and sound you absolutly did the right thing. I guess when we dress our babies we get 2 things out of it fashion and safety you sound like an amazing person thank gosh ur ok!

You know, I have NO idea how I missed this posting, as I am on here more than not ... and have neglected all my priorities too.

Kim, I am so sorry that this has happened and I can only imagine how frightened you must have been. I will surely now be even more careful in public with my babies.

OMG!! That is so scary. I'm glad Kim wasn't hurt more seriously and the Lexie is okay.

The other day my daughter and I were at PetCo with little Molly and a lady and man were oohing and ahhing over Molly and asked my daughter if she could hold her and my daughter let her. All of a sudden I got that panicked feeling like "what if they run with her?". Thankfully all was well and the gave her back, but my daughter and I decided that we'd not let strangers hold her anymore. Especially after hearing this story!!

I haven't read ahead, but I hope he has been caught!!!

OMG I'm so glad to hear both of you are ok. You know I thought I was being to paranoid every time I had her with me. I'm always looking around me and if someone looks weird to me I just leave. Thanks for posting this I will be extra careful.

This is just so scary! I thought... eh', it won't be such a scary thing because i live in a small town.... that was until my BF's mom told me that there was a 'missing' yorkie notice posted at the vet's office. Someone had stollen a yorkie out of a car at our local grocery store. I just can't believe it.......
