| Hurricanes Well hurricane Dennis is headed this way. Right now It looks like it will hit Pensacola. But as big as it is Tallahssee will get a big piece of it. This will be Asia's first hurricane so I hope she does Ok. Is there anything I can do to make this storm easier on her? I don't want to coddle her to much because Hurricanes are just a part of living in Florida, so she needs to get use to them. I hope everyone living in the path of this storm comes thru it unharmed. I know that a lot of people are still trying to recover from Ivan last year. My prayers are with you all. |

| Redfrog, I feel for you, I am in Port St Lucie and as you well know, we were hit twice dead on last year, I didn't have Pita then, but all of my other animals survived and some of them had to stand out in it!! My brother and his family are in Key Largo and I am praying it doesn't jog to the east on it's way on thro the keys!! If you want to evacuate we are home all weekend!! |

| Redfrog: You're staying? I've made our reservations for Lufkin, Texas at a Holiday Inn that is pet friendly and I'm south of New Orleans by about 45 miles (northern Lafourche Parish). We'll decide during the day today whether we'll leave but it will be determined on storm track predictions. I've lived with hurricanes all my life (43 years) but I've learned that our coastlines aren't what they used to be and we would never be able to survive a storm like Betsy or Camille in today's world. After Juan, I vowed I would never stay for a hurricane again -- and that was almost 20 years ago when my son was a year old or less! Best of luck to you!

| Im originally from Florida so I know just how bad the hurricanes can get. I now live in virginia and we dont get hit with them as often, so my yorkies havent yet delt with that. They have however, delt with horrible thunderstorms where the power goes out. They dont like it to much, but you can take their minds off of it if you try. My babies tend to shake when it gets real bad, BUT if you have treats on hand as well as their favorite toys, it does help. I would suggest prepairing an "emergency kit" for them. Get some treats, toys, and maybe a radio (with batteries). The music from the radio will drown out the storm a bit which makes it less noticable for them. That in turn helps them to relax and enjoy their treats and toys. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

| taje thanks for the offer. Tallahassee is in the bend of the state, so we don't get a lot of direct hits. We have never had to evacuate before. so unless this thing makes a major turn east we should be Ok. The worst we have had in the past was back when I was 19 (I'm 41 now). We lost power for a week and have a well which whens no water either. I though I heard they are evacuating the Keys? Dennis is passing by first thing in the morning. I hope your brothers family will be OK. |

LOL good to know im not the only one that babies....my baby's lol. The radio really does help them, and it will help you as well. When there's no power you tend to get bored very easily. You're just sitting there... May as well enjoy some music. Yes DEFINATELY stock up. Do you have a generator? Living where I am (in the mountains) I have no choice but to always keep food stocked. The grocery store is a 30 min drive away. So I keep my fridge, freezer, deep freezer, and pantry, stocked at all times. Only thing that sucks is, I have not yet invested in a generator, so if we lose power, I loose a LOT of food.

| That's what I need. The generator. I must remember to take the one from work home with me just in case. It very hot with out the a/c so at lease I can run a fan. Got plenty of CDs for the radio and battries. I stocked up on hurricane supplies during the tax free week. |

| I don't have a computer at the house so I can only go online when I'm at work. If this storm hits on monday or tuesday, I'm not coming to work. Thats to long without checking in to YT. |

| Oh my God. Dennis is up to 150 mile per hour with gust of 185. He hasn't even hit Cuba yet! This is not going to be a pretty one. |
