I've made our reservations for Lufkin, Texas at a Holiday Inn that is pet friendly and I'm south of New Orleans by about 45 miles (northern Lafourche Parish).

We'll decide during the day today whether we'll leave but it will be determined on storm track predictions.

I've lived with hurricanes all my life (43 years) but I've learned that our coastlines aren't what they used to be and we would never be able to survive a storm like Betsy or Camille in today's world. After Juan, I vowed I would never stay for a hurricane again -- and that was almost 20 years ago when my son was a year old or less!
