Im originally from Florida so I know just how bad the hurricanes can get. I now live in virginia and we dont get hit with them as often, so my yorkies havent yet delt with that.
They have however, delt with horrible thunderstorms where the power goes out. They dont like it to much, but you can take their minds off of it if you try. My babies tend to shake when it gets real bad, BUT if you have treats on hand as well as their favorite toys, it does help.
I would suggest prepairing an "emergency kit" for them. Get some treats, toys, and maybe a radio (with batteries). The music from the radio will drown out the storm a bit which makes it less noticable for them. That in turn helps them to relax and enjoy their treats and toys.
