| Crazy Woman @ The Groomers Did you ever talk to someone who just did NOT get it? Well, today I took Katie on my lunch break to the groomer just for a quick trim and a bath -- now she looks great and smells yummy. Anyway, there was a woman there who asked to pet Katie and I said "Yes, you can "PET" her". The woman bent down and was trying to pick Katie up and poor Katie was backing away from her and trying to hide. So I picked up Katie and told the woman to then pet her. The woman then tried to pick up Katie from my arms and I said "NO, you can only pet her. I don't allow people to hold my dogs." (Now I do let people hold my dogs but NOT strangers!) The woman kept trying to pick up Katie and said, "It's ok. I own a teacup poodle". She just kept persisting and I finally had to be really nasty and yell at her to back the *uck off me and dog. She got the point and then told the groomer she'd wait outside until her poodle was ready. The groomer told me that that lady is wacko and always tried to hold people's dogs. She said she's a nut case -- I'm so glad I didn't let her hold Katie. I honeslty have no problem w/ people touching my dog but I just don't like to let anyone I don't know HOLD them. I am afraid they could drop them or even try to run away w/ them. If that ever happened then I'd be in jail for murder ... but that's besides the point. Do you think I was over reacting and rude?

| I also forgot to mention that once she said the word TEACUP I got pissed off!! That also added to my reason for being nasty to her - she is obviously ingorant.

| No I do that with Coco. I don't let anyone hold her, they are allowed to pet her, just not hold her. I don't think you were being rude. She wasn't getting the picture. I will get nasty if people don't listen. Ok Coco squirms a lot when she's being held by someone she doesn't know. All it takes if one big squirm and she fallsand hurts herself or even worse. So I don't want to take any chances. You do what you gotta do to protect my surrogate daughter Katie, Jen. Yes she definetely sounded INGORANT..

| No I don't believe you were rude. You had reason. I mean its one thing for her to try and hold your dog if you haven't told her not to but at the point in time you told her she couldn't she should've quit trying. She really had some nerve to keep on after you told her that she couldn't hold her. I personally don't try and hold anyone's dog but even if I did if someone told me that I couldn't I don't believe I'd keep trying. Its your dog, you set the rules and be proud that you didn't give in. Then you may have felt really bad if something did happen. I think some people just don't get it like you said. There's reason as to why we don't let just anyone do whatever they please with our dogs.

| I totally agree! I don't even like my own father to hold Sydney b/c no matter how many times I've showed him...he still can't manage to remember to hold her the proper way so that she can't squirm out of his arms. Plus I've noticed with Syd that if you don't hold her correctly she feels un-safe and tries to jump out of your ams. You totally did the right thing! |

| Thanks everyone! I called my sister and told her about what happened and she said what's the big deal and that I am too over protective when it comes to Codie and Katie. But this is coming from a person who does not have any pets - not even a darn gold fish!! So I told her to let some stranger hold her kids (when she has them in the future lol) and see if she likes it!! My sister is getting married this Sunday so she has no kids yet.

| LOL...people only hear what they want to here...and I for one have had it with pushy people trying to touch and prod at my baby...lol, I am pretty easy going (I think)...if Maximus is on a harness and leash people can pet him and play with him a little and if I am holding him (no leash) people can pet him...I don't allow people to walk him or hold him on his leash (I have been asked..coo-coo)..and I don't allow people I don't know hold him either..

| I don't blame you a bit for how you handled it. I guess being blunt is the only thing some people understand. Too bad she just didn't 'get it' the first few times.

| No you were not rude. You politely explained why not to hold her but she kept trying anyway. Unfortunatly sometimes you have to be short with people to get your point across. |

| I would have done the exact same thing! I wouldn't have felt bad even if I was rude. I personally think that she's the one that was rude, so you were only responding to her!

| It best to be on the safe side and if that ment being a little stern, well then no harm done.
