Did you ever talk to someone who just did NOT
get it? Well, today I took Katie on my lunch break to the groomer just for a quick trim and a bath -- now she looks great and smells yummy. Anyway, there was a woman there who asked to pet Katie and I said "Yes, you can "PET" her". The woman bent down and was trying to pick Katie up and poor Katie was backing away from her and trying to hide. So I picked up Katie and told the woman to then pet her. The woman then tried to pick up Katie from my arms and I said "NO, you can only pet her. I don't allow people to hold my dogs." (Now I do let people hold my dogs but NOT strangers!) The woman kept trying to pick up Katie and said, "It's ok. I own a teacup poodle". She just kept persisting and I finally had to be really nasty and yell at her to back the *uck off me and dog. She got the point and then told the groomer she'd wait outside until her poodle was ready. The groomer told me that that lady is wacko and always tried to hold people's dogs. She said she's a nut case -- I'm so glad I didn't let her hold Katie.
I honeslty have no problem w/ people touching my dog but I just don't like to let anyone I don't know HOLD them. I am afraid they could drop them or even try to run away w/ them. If that ever happened then I'd be in jail for murder ... but that's besides the point.
Do you think I was over reacting and rude?
