| Is this a new rule? I was just at petsmart and they told me I have to have proof of Rabie shot with me at all times in all places! Anywhere the dogs go! I've been going to that petsmart to have the dogs nails cut and theyve never asked before and since I didn't bring the proof with me they refused to do their nails. They said this area is under rabies quarentine? And has been for the last 3 years. I've never heard of this and I've lived here for 3 years and had dogs for a year. |

| I don't know, but it is smart of them to require proof of rabies before accepting dogs for grooming, bathing, or nail trimming.

| I know that most places her--as far as groomers, places to board dogs, etc--require that you provide proof that the dog is current on all vaccinations, including rabies AND in some cases bordatella. |

| I know in central Illinois this is the case it was the same with my first little yorkie! Also, I could never understand charging $40 to cut a 4lb dogs hair???? Or keeping her for 3 hours at a time??? |

| grooming takes time...takes so long for a good bath and all the extras they do, drying completely, brushing out, and haircut. If a dog is matted or won't be still, it takes even more time. I think three hours is very reasonable. And groomers have to make money...it's hard work to be a groomer...not just playing all day with puppies like some people think. You can get some really hard to handle dogs, aggressive dogs, nervous dogs, dirty dogs, matted dogs, flea/tick-covered dogs....groomers get bitten and scratched. It's hard work to be a good groomer.

| Yes, most all dog places require that you have proof of a rabies shot. It's Texas law, every 3 years. I know you're suppose to have it on you at dog parks too.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I didn't know that either - I've never carried mine around but I guess I'll have to add it to the thousands of papers in my purse - but I see why they want people to have that .... |

| Did you know? Yes that is the rule .... I would guess just about everywhere... some groomers just get lax about it. BUT ... did you know that you can't cross state lines w/o proof of your dog's vaccinations or they can take your dog into quarantine in some rogue place. My parent's were traveling from Ark. to Virginia and were stopped ... for speeding I'm sure... knowing my dad. Anyway, the police asked to see their beautifully groomed maltese's papers shot records. My mom was like... hey look... they are obviously well taken care of... he let her go.... but basically said this is the law everywhere. She never travels w/o the records again. Can you imagine you little baby in some pound? OHHHHHH.... my mom's dogs would have heart failure just having to be around muts...lol... but it is sooo scarey! |

| In my county in Florida, a dog tag showing that the dog has had it's rabies shot must be displayed any time it is outside your home.........even in your own yard, it is required. Any kennels require all documentation also that the dog has be innoculated against rabies and other vaccinations before they will accept them especially the bordatella. I always wear tags on them in the car or when we are out but also carry in a folder all their information regarding rabies, shots, microchip information and a picture of each just in case something happens.

| V - we keep ours in the glove box. That way we can always run out to the car, or should I say, DH can run out to the car if he's around. lol

| you never know when you will meet up with a situation where you will need to show proof of ownership and rabbie shots. Last year a man in my neighborhood (who I never met before) lost his Yorkie. His dog looked nothing like my two but the first thing he did when he was talking to me about his dogs was to check my dogs tags. When someone is looking for trouble (for whatever the reason) you don't want to be un prepared...esp when it comes to your furkids. Tina
