I happened to mention to Pixies breeder when i went to collect her that i got my last yorkie, Heidi, at 8 weeks of age, she said 'that breeder should be shot!!! LOL.
When i got Heidi, she was soooooo tiny! my mum told me to take her back as she should still be with her mother! Luckily, she did very well and had a fantastic apetite. she grew to be between 5-6lbs as an adult...Pixie is far far smaller..there is NO WAY she would have left her mother at 8 weeks...she was only 1.5 lbs at 14+ weeks! imagine how tiny she would have been at 8 wks!

My puppies don't go until they are 12 weeks old. I won't ship a puppy unless they are 12 weeks and over 2#--still prefer they go in the cabin with a person--I don't want them to be cargo.

A friend of mine lets hers go around 6-7 weeks.

I keep mine usually 11-12 weeks but let one go at 10 weeks to a YT member that also has yorkies and knows how to take care of them. I've kept one till 14-15 weeks before.

I just think it depends on who is getting them..Not getting them until 12 weeks is fine for some people, if they've never been around dogs, don't know about hypoglycemia, etc. yes, wait..I have no problem with that..but for me, I want them as early as I can get them(anytime between 6-8 weeks)..but, like I also stated, I am home 24/7, and when I do have to run to the store, then my hubby is here.
