| I've had similar experiences...someone once called me and left a message saying they have $600 cash and can pick up tonight. Umm no, my puppies are not junk I am trying to get rid of, they are my babies and I would never dream of selling to someone like that. First off, they are worth what I am asking, and second, I am so picky about who gets my puppies and someone like that you’d probably never see again. |

| Man that bites. I think I do better on Ebay myself too. I am also picky about which family they go to as well. I like to check the people out. I hope NOT to ever run into them again...

| Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I agree with a lot of you that bartering is ok at yard sales, garage sales, or flea markets. When you buy something from somebody, you can also negotiate the price, but if you say $1900 it is stupid to offer $900!!!!!! |

| it is one thing to call about an ad and offer $100 less... i seem to get the people that call/e-mail and say "what's the best you can do?" .. um.. excuse me?! I listed my price, what do you mean the best i can do? Like someone else said.. if it is a wonderful home, I'll come down on asking price.. but I'm not giving them to the first person with money in my face... but i agree to walk up to you at a store, "make an offer", and tell you they have FISH (lol)..

| Donating YT 1000 Club Member | If I have one of my puppies with me that is for sale I never quote a price at all but say " I can e-mail you an application if you would like" I would never sell to anyone that has not researched Yorkies and meets my strict requirements. I still get people who fill out an application and they offer 800.00 or something...I throw those out!!!! Yorkies are too precious to not be super careful

| Hello, I'm new on here, & absolutely understand %100 what you are all saying about feeling like it is almost an insult to ask for a lower price. However, we are currently searching for a Yorkie pup for our family & I have found that the prices vary SO MUCH! I have been researching alot & have Yorkie's in my family, so I know that there are many differences. Here's the problem... I know a few people that have NO problem paying $2000 for a "teacup" dog to carry around with them, but may not be the best "parents" for that little life. We are a really good family who just want to be able to have a Yorkie join our family. We absolutely cannot afford to pay that amount of money upfront. We recently found an 18 month old yorkie pup on the side of the road and took him in & cared for him, sending him to a shelter was just NOT an option. Myself, my husband, and our 3 children wanted more than anything to be able to keep him as our own. We wanted to do what was right though, so we searched for the owners, and returned him. My whole family cried terribly because we loved this little pup so much. We have now decided that the children are ready for a family pet, but I am having a hard time finding a trust-worthy breeder in the area. I went to one the other night who sounded SO professional on the phone, and there were cages stacked on top of each other and these pups were sitting in their own filth. I wanted to take one home just to get him out of there, but they were asking $1000 and when I asked about the parents, they didn't have a straight answer for me. You obviously all are reputable people who breed these dogs out of love rather than $, do you have any advice for me? Do any of you think that sometimes, there is just a good family who will love and care for a pup but just genuinely can't afford to spend a thousand dollars on one, have any of you turned down a buyer who COULD pay the asking price, but didn't seem like they where going to be good "parents"? P.S. PLEASE, don't think I am criticizing any of you in ANY way, I am genuinely asking a question, I know it's hard to "read" someone's tone on forums so I wanted to eliminate any question right away. |

| I HAVE I will give you an example..I had a female on my website and had a lady saw her and inquired about her and I let her know she wasn't pregnant and she stated that she would love to have a puppy from this female and could I let her know when she came into season.. we talked for a long time and she was a sweet lady. She lived out of state she lived in Texas. Well time went on and the little female was bred.. I called her and ahe was too thrilled so she wanted to fly out when the pups were born so she could see them 1st hand and so I agreed.. She came then went back home. ANYHOW when it was time to pick up the puppy she brought her husband. I told her we would pick them up from the airport. We get to the airport she was TIPSY ( WOOHOO ). We got to the house and she took out a flask and took a SWIG OMG I was like ??? Then out of NO WHERE SHE SAYS " DID YOU TURN THE BURNER OFF ON THE STOVE" ??? I WAS like WTF.. The husband wasnt interested in the puppy AT ALL . He kept saying this is HER DOG, NOT mine..SO I told my hubby this is a BAD DEAL.. Just think what they are like IF they are both drunk?? THEN the guy takes a BEER from his bag and cracks it OPEN in my house like it was OK.. This man did not know me like he knew the hair in the crack of his So we called them a cab. I told them It wasnt going to work out and gave them their deposit and walked them out when the cab came she started crying and saying how sorry she was... The price of her puppy was $2500 and she GAVE me $700 when she flew out the 1st time as a deposit..I gave her, her $700 back and showed them $$$ means NOTHING. I will turn you down in a heart beat.. $means NOTHING over a life..

| Well, I have tried lowering the prices of puppies before, but I DON'T give them that "take it or leave it deal" as if the puppies were just an object. Am I bad for asking if they can lower the price???

| OMG! I can't believe that! Do you see what I mean? People can make themselves out to be one thing, in my case, it was a breeder, but when you meet them in person, they are NOTHING like you thought! Well, I am confident that we will find the right pup for our family. We may need to wait until after Christmas though because with 3 kids, Christmas is the most expensive time of the year. I guess I couldn't help but feel that we found that puppy for a reason, I've even already purchased a crate, dog bowls, toys & a blanket for our soon to be "baby", (just want to be prepared!! LOL) Thank you for sharing your story! Erin |

| Erin You will find the right dog for your family... Some people have listed their pups on this site for like $650 I saw a ad the other day.. so you may want to check the ad section I have had people give me their yorkies b/c they can no longer keep them or they fill they are just to much work.. or grooming is to much or they are moving etc.... When I get them I make sure they sign the puppy or dog/s over then I take them to the vet and I place then sale them to great homes, IF I can not keep them those yorkies are sold for a very very low price. Say a pup is $400 ... Im charging you all my vet fees for the pup/dog Say $125, Say $185 for a spay/neuter charge, then just Say a $90 charge for caring for the dog or pup ... IF the pup is not old enough to be spayed or neutered then once it is done you will get the cost of that back

| I am a breeder...and I can honestly say there ARE certain situations where I would let a puppy go for much less than I was asking. BUT CERTAINLY NOT SOME LADY I RAN INTO IN A STORE! Kabmom, for someone who has a loving family I would certainly make a deal, provided that I had all the correct references and had been in touch with the person or family for an extended amount of time. However, that's not to say that everyone who calls me and says: "I don't have the money, I have a loving home, can I pay half of what you're asking?" is going to get a deal from me...it really just depends on the situation. I DO care more about my babies than the money, but at the same time, we have to make a living, and believe me, these babies are a full time job. Raising small dogs is much different from raising, say, golden retrievers (not that there is ANYTHING wrong with goldens or their breeders), because they take A LOT more work and have to be watched so carefully. I never let my mothers give birth by themselves...they don't know how. And you are constantly having to watch the pups for sugar drops, and getting them to nurse or tube feeding...and you're up night after night. You have to decide when to give shots...half a shot? Whole shot? Are they too little to have a shot yet? It's constant monitoring...unlike with a larger breed, you don't worry about small puppies. By the time you get that puppy ready to go to a forever home, you've put thousands of dollars worth of effort into the process. So, really, $1000-$2000 is a GOOD price for what you're getting. People really don't realize how much work goes into the process! I always tell people if they want me to lower the price, they can come and work for me for a day and THEN see if they think that's fair... |
