| Puppy Traumatized from Groomer Visit?? I took Logan to the groomer for the first time. She works out of the vet clinic where I take him for his shots and visits. I dropped him off and returned before the groomer was finished. While I was waiting, I could hear Logan screetching loudly. He sounded like someone was trying to kill him! The vet asked me to come back to the room and hold him, which I did, although he didn't seem to be trying to escape. The groomer was "powdering" his ears and plucking the hair, which she said doesn't hurt. But Logan acted like she was killing him. She said he didn't like anything but the bath. It sounds like he cried a lot during his first visit to the groomer. Since then, Logan has not wanted to do anything but sleep! Before going, he was playful and energetic and eating very well. Since then he has been sleeping and barely eating anything. I took him for a walk this morning, but he wasn't as energetic as before. She did have to shave him because of the mats, and he's wearing a sweater I made from a sock. But he still shivers quite a bit, and it's not even cold here (70s). What do you think is going on? I'm really concerned about him. |

| I would say never take him there again...I have had many similar experiences with my babies and now I just groom them myself. Also, I read that he ear hair does not need to be plucked unless i has posed some kind of an issue or infection before. I use to have the groomer or vet pluck the hairs but since I have stopped I have no had any issues and no sad/scared/confused Yorkies. Good luck! Send him many Yorkie hugs and kisses from us

| I don't know what to do now. He has done nothing all day but sleep. How do I undo what happened to him? I know all dogs are not the same, but when I took my first dog to the groomer's, he never had any problems - and he was not laid back at all like Logan is. I just wonder if she really did hurt him and caused permanent damage. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I never pluck the ear either, vet said not necessary unless infections. I would find another grommer where you can watch or do it yourself. Pixie has nver been to the groomer as she is real easy to groom with her silky coat, Cali goes every 3 months to someone I trust. I do know that Pixie screams when I comb out her face and I'm not even pulin on it. She;ll scream before I even move the comb. Some are more sensitive than others. Just give your baby a lot of hugs tonight.

| Ahhh I hope he is better soon, I would never take him there again. He is most likely just scared and should come around soon.

| Poor little guy!! Just my opinion, but I think he was a bit traumatized. It sounds like he went through a lot. I agree you should not go there again. I hope he is feeling a little better now. Sending big hugs.

| OMG Don't ever take him there again All my Yorkies go to the groomers and have never acted like that, she must have hurt him Even my little CHloe who will start crying as soon as she see's the brush coming to her face, it's funny you can comb her body but not her face but she has never acted like that after a visit to the groomers Poor guy, big hugs and kisses from me and my crew

| I wouldn't go back there again. Sounds like the poor little guy was scared to death. I'm sure you can find a good groomer just check around a lot. Go into different places and talk to the people. See how you feel about them, and tell them the bad experience he had so they know what not to do.

| I had read that plucking hair from the ears is a normal part of grooming. We always had that done with our Maltese (or I did it at home), and he never complained about it. I just think Logan's reaction went beyond the normal fear of first-time grooming. He seemed genuinely harmed by the experience, and I won't go back. The groomer told me as Logan was screaming, "You can't let the crying stop you." |

| Plucking the hair is a normal routine thing that groomers do. It normally doesn't seem to bother most dogs, but I've seen a few yelp from it. I guess it just depends on the dog. I've never had any of Lacy's ear hair plucked though and we've had no problems

| And another thing that has been happening ever since the groomer visit...Logan doesn't want to be in his crate at night. He cries and wants to go out every 2-3 hours. Before, he would not make a peep in his crate at night, and I could take him out every 4-5 hours. |
