| Your neighbor obviously didn't get the point yesterday when you were polite, so it's time to be much more firm. You might want to try telling them that you don't want to create any friction (they appear to be doing a good job of that on their own), but that their coaxing must stop. Give her some consequences such as you will contact the police if it doesn't stop. What your neighbor is doing is very wrong, and for her to continue doing it after you already asked her to stop is inexcusable. She is putting your dogs at risk..... |

| The Cops And Firemen Were Called To My House!!!!!! I CAN NOT BELIEVE THIS!!!!!! I will start from the beginning and bare with me because this could get lengthy. I went over to talk to the neighbors this morning. The daugther wasn't home but mom and dad were. I explained to them why I was so upset on what she did. I told her that if they got out something terrible could happen. She had the nerve to tell me she was right there and nothing would have happened to the puppy. HELLO!!! I told her she is teaching them how to get out!!!!! and could get out when she was not there. (the puppy is never out alone--remember I was in the garage with the back door open). I reminded them how Snoopy (the beagle) would always get out and I finally rigged the fence so he couldn't get out. She apologized and said she understands now. Needless to say I was still mad but got my point across. Well, I got home from work today and my son and I were swimming in our pool. The puppy was inside because it is why too hot for him to be out that long. I heard a voice and my beagle and maltese were wagging their tails at the fence. I got out of the pool and heard "Your mommy says I can't talk to you. I'm sorry I can't pet you." (IN A BABY VOICE TO GET THEM EXCITED). Snoopy starts digging and I said "NO" really loud. I was too late--he didn't get out but he got his head stuck under the chainlink fence and the patio stones I put down. I yelled at the daughter (25 years old--not a young child) and then tried to get him out. I couldn't and he was struggling so bad that he began to bleed. I tried to dig where he was and see if I could move the stones (he dug in between stones) I didn't know what to do so I called the fire dept (they get cats out of trees, right?). They had to cut the bottom of the fence to get him out because they didn't want to tear anything. While they were doing this--I told them what has happened in the past 2 days. THEY CALLED THE COPS!!!! The cops laid into the daughter and her parents. He told them they are responsible for the gate and the vets bills. If they did not comply--criminal charges would be issued. I was only half listeing at the time because I was crying and just wanting to get Snoopy to the vet so I don't know exactly what the neighbors said. He has 3 tears in his neck that had to be stitched and he lost a nail in the struggle to get out. He is doing fine--I don't think understands what the heck happened. They gave him a sedative so he is sleeping now. I BROUGHT HIM OVER TO THEIR HOUSE DIRECTLY FROM THE VET (with my crying son, too). I yelled at them, saying "YOU SEE--YOU SEE WHAT CAN HAPPEN!?!?!?!?!" They just stood there. The daughter was in the back crying. The mom said she was just as upset about this as I was. PLEASE----She looks at him as just a dog--not like one of my babies. The dad (i feel sorry for him because he never did anything) asked immediately for the fence company I used so he could get them out to fix the gate. I told them they need to explain to my son why this had to happen to his dog (he picked him out at the shelter 3 years ago). She started to cry---PLEASE AGAIN---I have no sympathy for her. I wanted to punch her but then the cops would have been called out on me . I still can't believe this happened. I can't comprehend why they would do it again or even in the first place. I would have brought the dogs out to see them--they didn't have to do this. Now they are going to have to pay about $200-300 for a new gate and Snoopy's vet bills were $175 (not including a follow up). Sorry this is so long... I told you all it would be long. |

| At least they got what they deserved. You warned them that they would be liable, and they did it anyway. They have hopefully learned never to do it again. Please let us know how Snoopy is doing (love the name by the way, my babies are named after Peanuts characters). I'm just glad that nothing more serious happened. I just hope that they don't stoop low enough to do something bad to get revenge. People do stuff like that all the time.

| I would be really pissed off. I would have told them that they are teaching my dog bad habits. If my dog got under our fence and into their yard, they could be hurt, escape from their yard and get hit by a car, stolen. So many horrible things come to mind. How can they be so stupid!!! I just can't believe they are that dumb... Genie |

| Sounds to me like they wanted to and are still trying to steal the dog. Today I had Mya on very thin nylon 10ft lead attached to her harness. I was way back in the garage getting the garden hose out. All of a sudden I hear my large Pom Growling, He has only growled once before when someone tried to break in to the house, Anyway I come out the garage to find a neighbour crouched down beside the car, startled to see me and Comic who was also in the garage. She says Ummmmm I just wanted to pat the puppy, I didn't see you there. This woman sees my puppy EVERYDAY when I walk her past her house several times a day and had never asked to pat her. I am sure she was going to take her. I was going to say something to her but she ran off. I had heard her say her mother has wanted a dog like Mya for years when talking to another neighbour. I would make a comment like, If my dog goes missing, the police will be knocking on YOUR door.

| Wow...I'm so sorry that happened to you and your family. It's horrible that it took this much for your neighbor to realize that they were wrong. And good for the police for doing a great job! Take care! |

Just a suggestion but I am notorious for locking myself outta the house so I have learned to keep keys in very odd places. I keep a house key under the floor mat in all my vehicles, I keep a house key in a little metal box under one of my down spouts on the side of my house and in other odd places that no one would think of. | |

| Your poor little baby having to go to the vet and go through all that stuff. I would seriously be really ticked off. I wish you all the luck in the world. I honestly thank god that we are bikers and our neighbors are scared sh**less of us. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | OMG that was UNBELIEVEABLE ! I REALLY hope your baby is ok - I would have had a heart attack ! No matter what their intentions were - it was so wrong to do what they did !! I'm wracking my brain how you can prevent anything like this - the only thing I can think of is you can brace the bottom of the fence - they've taught your babies to do this - now they can look at the results - I took LONG boards for my wood fence and have them running the whole length of my fence on one side only where my girls were digging - I don't know if this will work for you but that is so unreal about what happened. It sounded like everything was fine till your neighbors did this - maybe they can help you find a solution for this problem so it doesn't happen again ! GOOD LUCK !! |

| What a lesson for ALL of us! People just don't think. They think these little ones are like a stuffed animal or something - just to be cute. They don't understand the feelings we have for them at all. I sure hope your dog heals well and nothing like this happens again. |
