![]() ![]() ![]() What a horrible definition! Mixed breeds are in no way inferior to any other breeds. ![]() Ariel is a Morkie, and she is so loving and full of life. I do plan on getting a purebred Yorkie, but not for awhile. Anyway, I'd say go for any one of the breeds you're thinking of getting. You'll end up with a lifelong friend no matter which you choose ![]() | |

| ![]() Well, personally, I am partial to Yorkies... ![]() But I would say to research research research!! Find out the personalities of the breeds individually and go with the one that suits you more. If you already have a maltese, you probably know at least some about that breed...but learn as much as you possibly can about Yorkies as well. That way you can make an educated decision. Really, in your situation, you could have either. Maltese's are sweet and loving dogs...much calmer and needier than Yorkies. But personally, I love the independent Yorkie personality and the "large dog in a small dog's body." If it were me I wouldn't go with a mix...but if you find one you love then don't let it stop you... ![]() |

Anyway, where did you get that a maltese was never mixed? Maybe you should read this history of the maltese origin http://www.annasheavenlymaltese.com/...e_history.html According to the histories I've read, along with this article, a maltese is a descendent of a spitz-like dog. As the maltese was developed, miniature spaniel and poodle were mixed in.

| ![]() thats okay sweetie, you're entitled to your opinion...I still consider a cross of 2 dogs, exactly what they're called, morkie, snorkie, whatever the other ones are..I love them all..I think a lot of people that think they own purebred yorkies are going to find they actually own MUTTS(in your words), after all this DNA testing...LIL, you go with your heart hon, I love yorkies too, I think the maltese have sweeter dispositions, morkies are fantastic too...let us know what you end up getting! |

My furkids Donating Member | ![]() I think they are both adorable, sweet little dogs...Matter of fact I was on the fence between yorkie and maltese...I decided not to get a maltese because they are white and I think, more work to keep them white. Actually there are A LOT of breeds I would like to have...just don't have the money to have them! As for the term "mutt" I'm going to assume that you are young well, I am 50 and in my day any dog that wasn't a purebred was considered a mutt. Or, a cross breed, if 2 different purebreds bred. Don't take it personal...there are alot of people on this site that were brought up with the same term. OH! Welcome to YT and good luck in your decision!
